A report released this week by the Center for Cognitive Liberty and Ethics ranks the severity of penalties for pot convictions in each of the 50 states and D.C. Is our Northwest pot-jungle in the bottom ten? Not quite. Washington is number 36. Oregon, which has decriminalized marijuana possession, is surprisingly at draconian position 15. The ratings are based on both the sentences from judges and the subsequent penalties resulting from a conviction—including ineligibility for food stamps and student loans, voter disenfranchisement, employment discrimination, and barring adoption. In most cases, a felony marijuana conviction (for example growing marijuana) triggers the...

No rapid transit covering the region....no recycling of plastic bags....no civiliam oversight of police who seem to beat up people...no congestion pricing....harsh drug laws.....$250,000 to run for city council, so call those lawyers and developers all day, all you grass roots candidates! ...harsh laws on nightclubs...

isn't it nice to just accept our big community bubblethought fantasy: "oh we're so liberal and nice here."

It occurred to me yesterday while celebrating Independence Day with a bong hit and BBQ, that the Conservatives are insane to not legalize pot. Republicans think pot smokers are more likely to be liberal and they think smoking pot is supposed to make you lazy and apathetic.

If the GOP legalized pot they would probably control the country for the indefinite future.

Plus, pot is something we don't have to import like cocaine or heroin (Buy American!)

Alaska is ranked as HIGH??

I love how they make very little mention (only a vague paragraph in the ALASKA.pdf) of the 2003 court ruling making it LEGAL to possess up to 4 ounces in your home... granted the legislature tried in 2006 to pass a law re-criminalizing it, but the high court shot it down, and is awaiting appeal.

So, for the time being, you can have 4 ounces LEGALLY in Alaska.

Man, New Mexico is awesome, check this article:

"It was all a misunderstanding. Really.

"Dude, I totally thought weed was legalized in New Mexico," police say a man with 67 marijuana plants in the trunk of his car told them.

"Well, it's not," the police officer replied.

A man was busted at the Border Patrol checkpoint on U.S. Highway 70 June 12, allegedly while transporting a large number of marijuana plants in his car.

He told police he thought weed had been legalized in this state."
