I'll slap down a Grant for Mr. Izzard. Shit, I'll slap down two and take a friend.

Have you caught him and Mini Driver on The Riches? It gives me hope for television!

Posted by You_Gotta_Be_Kidding_Me | July 26, 2007 4:13 PM

$50 is not so bad in this day and age. Don't be a cheapskate, just skip a few nights at the bar, save up and go.

Posted by Matt from Denver | July 26, 2007 4:19 PM

You'll also have to pay $50 for that sack of weed you'll want to have, making it $100. Fuck that.

Posted by Mr. Poe | July 26, 2007 4:23 PM

Far better deal than $40+ for thoes This American Life douchebags.

Posted by karst | July 26, 2007 4:32 PM

His "Engelbert Humperdink died in a car crash today" routine was worth $50, easy. It makes me happy just thinking about it.

Posted by Nat | July 26, 2007 4:40 PM

Yes, I'd fork it over and appreciate you letting us know. I like laughing that much.

Posted by ditto | July 26, 2007 4:42 PM

I'll take cake, please.

Posted by JC | July 26, 2007 4:45 PM

Hell, yes. In a heartbeat. It's a lot better than the other option I was looking at, which was trying to get to Montreal for his performance at Just for Laughs. Flights to Montreal are _insane_.

Posted by wench | July 26, 2007 4:48 PM

We need the $50. We're building a henge.

Posted by The Druids | July 26, 2007 4:50 PM

Am I blind? There's no link for this anywhere on their calendar.

Posted by wench | July 26, 2007 4:51 PM

hey wench:

i get advance press releases.

Posted by Brendan | July 26, 2007 5:24 PM

Yeah, Izzard. The stand-up, cross-dressing comedian seems like an entirely different fellow than Izzard the actor. Both very talented - the comic, hilarious.

Everything is at least $50 these day, Brendan. I love, love, love Kathy Griffin. She cracks me up like Richie Pryor cracked me up, but a seat at The Paramount this November is $50. Seems a lot of people have it to spare. She's added a third night.

One good thing about seeing Izzard at the Rep: It's a bit more intimate than the Paramount. Should be a great evening. Since you're press, can't you get a comp?

Posted by Bauhaus | July 26, 2007 6:38 PM

Thanks for the head's up, Brendan. His show at the Paramount a few years ago was the funniest performance in the history of mankind. Easily worth $50.

Posted by Sean | July 26, 2007 7:18 PM

Cake for me, too, please.

Posted by emi | July 26, 2007 7:21 PM

We're out of cake.

Posted by Lee Gibson | July 26, 2007 7:46 PM

Well then, I'll have the chicken then...

It's not 50 dollars funny, but that was damn funny. I love Eddie Izzard's stuff.

Posted by Gomez | July 26, 2007 8:29 PM

Holy Ghost, this is not an episode of Scooby Doo!

$50 bucks seems right, even a dolllar less would be selling him short.

I wouldn't pay five. People have loaned me DVDs of his stand up, and it was boring as shit, and I can't believe anyone mentioned The Riches. I tried, I really tried to watch that show because I love Minnie Driver, but what a piece of shit. It reminded me of Three's Company, in that there's a misunderstanding, and then everyone lies non-stop to maintain the misunderstanding so no one gets hurt. Awful, just awful, and Izzard's accent is just pathetic.

Posted by Gitai | July 26, 2007 10:52 PM

I'll take, wait.

Cake! I meant cake...

And hell yes, Eddie's worth $50 and much more.

Saw him at The Moore--excellent...even saw him on his Circle tour at ACT--deliciously close and indisputably excellent.

Now, if you don't mind...I have to go punch a baboon.

Posted by pgreyy | July 27, 2007 5:49 AM

I've got legs! Do you like... bread?

Oh he so IS $50 funny.

Posted by Mary | July 27, 2007 10:32 AM

First...I'd pay $100 bucks to see Eddie Izzard in a heartbeat. And, I probably will so that I can bring a friend.
Second...what does being born in Yemen have to do with anything?

Posted by JeanGenie | July 27, 2007 11:11 AM

Everything is $50 these days concert wise. Eddie is hilarious and after his show at the Paramount he even stayed to sign autographs. Maybe you can save your cash and drop it when Larry the Cable guys comes around if you want Brendan.

Posted by pinballman | July 27, 2007 11:39 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't ANYTHING at the Rep cost about $50? I'm not inclined to pay that much to see a performance, but that's what performances where the performers get paid cost; the $10-$15 fringe prices that are now creeping to $18-$25 fringe prices are managed because those cats are doing it for free and supporting themselves with day jobs.

Is Izzard worth it? Well, sure, if anyone is.

Posted by thelyamhound | July 27, 2007 12:12 PM

by Jeff Vader's name it's worth $50!

FYI - "Eddie Izzard who won praise and earned a Tony Award nomination for his turn in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg will workshop his upcoming new solo show at Seattle Repertory Theatre for two performances only."

That sounds like a one-man play or such production. If you like Eddie then it will probably be entertaining, but I wouldn't go expecting it to be your typical stand-up show.

On the flip side, if he's "workshopping" it ("test driving" it, basically) then you might get a chance to comment on it in some fashion. Then you just have to ask yourself how you feel about paying $50 to help Eddie improve his show. *heh* I do know people who would jump at the chance to be involved with a production in some fashion, even to the tune of $50.

Thanks to my lovely sister, we are going BOTH nights - and yes, I would pay much more than $50 to spend an evening listening to this hilarious man. Why so cheap, Brendan? You live in Seattle, remember?
