Dancing to Hadid

posted by on July 5 at 11:30 AM

I really would like to believe that Hadid’s ballet, Metropolis II, is something wonderful
1metapolis.jpg But my instincts tell me it’s probably bad.

Set on a futuristic landscape drenched in shifting hues of radiant blue and green light, the high-energy work elegantly synthesizes video with the dancers’ moving bodies and Hadid’s interconnected silver sculptures.
What happened to Hadid? Where did she go wrong? Still, her Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati is one of the most important works of the present decade.

Hadid gets boring fast. She has one style that's based on one view of the future, and she rehashes her stuff over and over.

the only reason the CAC is any good is because while it's hadid's name, it was patrick schumacher's project.

without patster, fugly ol' zaha would be crying her eyes out.

"Mike": where did you get your information? It is utterly and completely wrong.

I was the client on the CAC project and I know that Patrick was only very slightly involved. Markus Dochantschi did a lot - all architects of Zaha's stature share the work with others - but Patrick was elsewhere during the design and construction of the Cincinnati building.
