Comments on Dancing In Freeway Park?

I think more than just rich people go to free dance lessons.

I thought it sounded fun...dancing in the park seems nicer than some dark crowded club...except for the lack of alcohol.

If this is anything like those senior citizen dances in the Center House, it could be pretty sweet. Plus, imagine a city-sponsored homeless dance program.

Right in Satan's playground. What other pagan rituals does the Parks Department plan on sponsoring this year. I once walked through the park during the daytime with a more superstitious and supernaturally sensitive friend and he felt the presence of tortured spirits. This spooked him and would never return to the park. Neither of us had ever read the linked Stranger article and knew nothing about its tradition of death.
It is not uncommon for him to very occasionally sense the presence of spirits in hotel rooms but at this park it was at a whole new level.

How about this, censorhsip is either good or bad, it isn't both or neither. I find it interesting that champions of the first ammendment would even consider censorship at all, whether or not they have the ability to do it.

It has nothing to do with "the first amendment" (which doesn't have anything to say about the Slog) or "censorship" or even whether ecce's posts are worth reading (his track record is poor). It has to do with the discourse here. Ecce is participating in the discourse. People who post under other people's accepted names, or with the intent only to disrupt (like Josh/Shoshana garbage), or who post only personal ad hominem attacks, are not. The latter should be banned; the former must not be.

I guess that whoever was deleting my comments from earlier has left the office for the day.

It was strange, someone had to go back through a bunch of threads to delete some of my comments. Then, if I tried to post, it would stay up for a few seconds, sometimes a little longer, but would then disappear. It didn't seem to matter which thread.

I never recieved an email stating that this was going to happen, or why.

Personally, I think it was/is a pretty cowardlly thing to do. I will wait and see if it continues tommorow. But I will still participate in whatever way I can.

Deleting comments is usually lame, especially if they are in fact part of the discourse. But I have yet to read anything from ecce homo that wasn't some half-witted attack on Dan Savage and his family, followed by half-witted rejoinders to the scores of people who take his bait. He has, much to his pride I'm sure, made this blog a much less interesting place. And frankly, his obsession with Dan is fucking creepy.

More than anything, Slog is a social milieu, and as such, when someone shows up with the sole intent of acting like an asshole, you show him the door. I think it would be better for everyone, including ecce homo, if Slog deleted every stupid thing he says.
