Police today began tearing down and burning at least 20,000 marijuana plants being grown in a Cook County Forest Preserve near Barrington…. Two men have been charged with growing the plants, which were found in 11 separate plots, the largest of which covered nearly a half-acre, Cook County Forest Preserve police said.

Actually Chicago proper is hardly mentioned - Barrington, Cicero, Chicago Heights, O'Hare - are all outlying areas where nice, white people often live. The police are probably just trying to find ways to look like they have enough to do so they don't get laid off. But down here in the real city where it's routine to hear gunfire at night, unidentified screaming, speeding cars, sirens and other curious nocturnal sounds, cops don't seem to have time for silly shit like hos and potheads.

Ah, Cat, ever been to Cicero? It's not that white anymore. And they've been busting the prostitutes on Cicero Ave for years. I once got propositioned at a stop light (by the pimp), coming back from getting my car inspected.
I'm with you on the hookers, but absolutely applaud this particular pot destruction. Why? Because these guys were doing it on public land, exploiting the forest system for private gain in the same way that logging companies do with their pennies on the dollar clear cut contracts.
Now if this had been a hydroponic grow operation in someone's basement, I'd be outraged, just outraged.

I can't believe this shit is still happening...both prostitution and pot are NEVER GOING AWAY.
Having lived in the area for most of my life too, I can safely say that there are very few white people in Cicero or Chicago Heights. The few who do live there are usually first-gen Ukranian- and Polish-Americans.
And frankly, if I were looking for sex, I'd look to the forest preserves ... apparently, the cops skipped that part.
