onYeah, it’s just a commercial for a television that I’ll never be able to afford, but it’s really cool!
Our latest TV ad - featuring massive paint explosions - took 10 days and 250 people to film. Huge quantities of paint were needed to accomplish this, which had to be delivered in 1 tonne trucks and mixed on-site by 20 people. The effect was stunning, but afterwards a major clean-up operation was required to clear away all that paint!
The cleaning took 5 days and 60 people. Thankfully, the use of a special water-based paint made it easy to scrape-up once the water had evaporated.
Keeping everyone safe was also an important factor. A special kind of non-toxic paint was used that is safe enough to drink (it contains the same thickeners that are sometimes used in soups). It was also completely harmless to the skin.
(Thanks to Colin for the tip.)

Great Ad!! What does the Clown have to do with the ad though??
I'm not sure, Andrew, but did you also want him to get splattered with paint? I did.
@4: I was totally waiting for that, and it never happened! The only good clown's a clown covered in paint, I say.

This ad has been around for a while, but it was interesting to read about the safety considerations for the paint used (even if it is press-release-y self congratulation).
And it's a pleasure to see that commercial again in any event. Too bad I can't afford a TV like that either.
This one was terrific too. Brought tears to my eyes, which is saying something for a commercial:

Holy shit, that's good advertising.
@8, The one with the balls is way better.
Yes Meg, a bunch paint all over the place is cool for the environment, especially cleaning it up. Ever cooler is that they did it to wow people into selling televisions. It worked on you, even if you can't afford it. This just furthers my belief that you are not a critical thinker enough to write for anything except a journal.
