Doesn't matter. Shooting + Nightclub = report that there was a shooting at a nightclub. Nightclubs are filled with evil, and as long as they exist they will fill the hearts of the 'innocent' with fear and trepidation. Once we close down all of the nightclubs, we can move on to close down any place where people are allowed to have a good time, drink, and socialize. Such places only lead to trouble!

@ Mr Poe, Since I am pissing everyone off today, you need to remember that the club could have a pool table in it as well, and we all know that pool means trouble right here in River City!

So we need to get everyone into a BIG BRASS BAND!!

There have some assaults near that intersection in the past year. On at least 3 occasions that I know of, club goers have been targeted when leaving the Mercury and heading up 11th towards Pike.

Have any of the Club owners made any remark about this yet?

More thugs trolling saner neighborhoods and trying to start shit with passers-by.

Has anyone really realized yet the Satellite isn't really a club? It's a lounge. There's a markable difference.

So I'm guessing that the guy who got shot was a patron going home after last call, and the group that shot him were walking up the sidewalk? There are so many bars in the area, the group could have been coming from anywhere. They could have been roaming the sidewalks looking to fuck with drunks stumbling home. It's too bad nobody can ID the guy. I'm guessing the vitcim was probably too drunk to do that.

Sorry, I meant victim.

Fire's out. Library's open. Brave hottie firemen have left. Urban moms and hippies have returned to their precious books and internet. And the place is still stinky.

As far as I can tell, the typical creepazoids wandering around that area are not patrons of any bar.

By saying a shooting in Capitol Hill was near a bar/restaurant/club is like saying that there was a shooting next to air.

The Satellite Lounge is a restaurant. I used to get mondo veggie burgers there. Like many restaurants, they have a full bar. It's not a dive or anything; it's pretty plain.

12. What keshmeshi said. There's a misconception that clubs breed this sort of activity, when it's really punk asses who seek out clubs to start trouble at that's the problem.

One key is to figure out where these sons of bitches are coming from, and why. Word on the street is that most of these guys aren't neighborhood locals.

maybe one in three nights i go out i or someone i'm with is shouted at by guys in a vehicle driving by. i would feel very uncomfortable if this happened when there were not masses of people around...

Apparently my friend was shot in the arm and is in the hospital recovering. He'll be OK. We really need to figure out how to make our neighborhood less attractive to violent gun toting jackasses.

Too bad the Satellite isn't still Spag's. The thought of watching a bar full of bearses scurry into the street in reaction to gun fire would warm the cockles of my heart.

the shooting may have been motivated by all the gawdamned construction in the area that blocks all the sidewalks so you have to walk in the fuckin' street...

the satellite is the poor cousin of the comet...it's where the comet crowd starts to hang out at once they reach 40...sorta like how manray denizens migrate to purr once they hit 30...

"comforting their overly sensitive children."

Last week when the list of "problem nightclubs" came out, many of the SLOG readers seemed to say, "That's OK.. Those are douchebag clubs anyway. Close 'em down."

Others made the point that after they shut down Venom, Tabella, Belltown Billiards, J&M, etc.. They will likely come after places that Slog readers DO like.

I hope the reporting of this opens a few more eyes.

When I was 7 years old and my school caught fire, i didn't cry like a little bitch and neither did my classmates. Kids these days are weak.

@22 - yes, they are. I was posting on WaPo the other day and someone was whining about someone keying their Hummer, to which I replied with a story about when I was a kid teens used to use rifles and shotguns to blow out the windshields of punk kids that bothered them.

Bunch of whiny babies nowadays.

"The Capitol Hill library has just been evacuated for a fire… the place is stinky and all the hippies and urban moms are on the sidewalks comforting their overly sensitive children."

Slog Tipper Brian sounds like an ignorant cunt. Hope he never has anything bad happen to him in his lifetime. And if he does I hope no one gives a shit.

Nobody will read this because it's so old but...
