The girl was later declared an enemy combatant and will be sent to Guantanamo Bay for enhanced interrogation. Terrorist confession to follow.

If she makes it to Gitmo. She'll probably "disappear" en route. Her mangled remains will surface in the Nile 3 weeks later sans fingernails.

Or if she's lucky, Cheney will just work her over with a bag of soap bars for a few hours.

George W. Bush kills children by the thousands. This little girl is just lucky she wasn't raped, murdered, and then set on fire.

"He said it was really brave of me to do that and he said he probably wouldn't have been able to do that," Jessica said. "And he said it was the first time anybody had asked him about [immigration] since it happened."

Jessica said she did not say much besides, "Thanks."

She asked the question about immigration, she said, because her father, Richard, has engaged her in conversations about the topic, and that was what popped into her head

just so its in perspective and this las bit gets to the heart of the matter.

What the hell does Mr. president or George Bush or whatever we call him nowadays mean when he says hes never been ask that question before?
Is he trying to pull our leg?

i despise and disrespect bush as much as the next rational person, but i do believe that his response was more about his feeliing like abeaten dog anymore than his desire to humiliate a girl. he just forgot that it wasn't supposed to be about HIM, but being a child himself, he loses sight of his adult repsonsibility toward a random 13 yr old.

Funnily enough, even though Bush has gotten a lot of crap about this, I think it's one of the less-assholish things I've seen him do. He made a flippant remark that he couldn't really have expected would make the girl cry (by the way, it was the laughter in response to the remark that made her cry). He obviously felt bad about it (WHAT! I KNOW!) and tried to make things right.

Actually, it's the most decent I think I've EVER seen him act.

there's enough to complain about bush without resporting to this propaganda. i read the transcript, and it didn't seem like bush was being a self-absorbed asshole (at the time)... just cracking a very predictable joke. and after seeing the response, he was actually sensitive about it (maybe doing damage control).

it's difficult to tell how adults will respond to humor, but what? it's wrong to try to joke when kids are around?
