Wow. There should be a fine for not knowing things like this.
This is also why street smarts would make me realize that there are a lot of dumb people in the world.
You know that one trick where David Blaine guesses what number someone's thinking of? And he gets it right every time? Clearly it's because he's psychic, and not because he guesses the same number every time and they only use the clips of the people who had also picked it.
Clearly.
Jesus Christ. I wonder how Seattle would do if we asked them that question...
Twa!
oh, the laugh track. torture. this is so very not funny it hurts me in special places.
its funny on the beeb
Believe it or not, this gives me hope. The less viscerally attached we are to 9/11, the less we'll be willing to accept the bullshit that 9/11 has been used to justify.
Ben @2 - This isn't the same thing. That's a trick, these are simple questions about matters of fact - questions any adult who hasn't been living on the moon for the past 6 years should know the answers to. Of course they only show the people who get it wrong, but it's still flabbergasting that anyone got it wrong. In Times Square.
To show the bright side he should have asked the people who got it wrong if they've ever voted. My guess would be no, and I'd thank them to please continue to leave the complicated business of real life to the adults.
is it just me or did some of the people look like they had voice overs done? maybe it's just the quality of the clip and me being too optimistic about people...
It is the same thing. Selective editing. They've proven only that some people are very stupid.
Ben, you're STILL not getting it...
The ENTIRE POINT is that there are *some* people out there who could get those questions wrong. That is appalling.
Unless you believe TV shows are unedited, you should know the producers aren't implying 100% of the surveyed got it wrong.
I'm sure most people got it right. The British are just trying to mock us because we have elevators instead of lifts.
Actually it's not British. It's from an Australian show called "The Chaser's War on Everything". It was shown as a pre-recorded segment to a live audience, so the laughter is real.

How many people did he have to interview before he found the really dumb ones? Editing wins.
This is why Bush's poll numbers really can't get much lower.
Believe it or not, roughly 15% of the population doesn't even know Bush is president (probably the same 15% who don't know when 9/11 happened).
So if Bush's popularity is at less than 30%, and 15% don't even know he exists, that leaves a pretty small gap of people left who actually think he's really doing a good job.
Ah, America's pre-occupation with misery, death, destruction. It isn't enough that you have to forever know that 9-11 is the day America's innocence (ha!) ended, but you must also remember the year or you are an idiot. I hope this is a sign that people have moved on. It's good to heal, to move on. It's enough for me that people know what happened on 9-11. I don't need them to recount the gory details.
Thank you for both scaring me and proving that those huge decals of "9-11-01 Never Forget" that people drive around with on their cars, are abso-fucking-lutely useless. As a New Yorker, this stuff really kills me. Especially the girl who said she was in NYC when it happened and she couldn't even remember the fucking year! This was less than 6 years ago, how is it not burned into some people's skulls?
