My involvement with the Pride activities began yesterday talking with a member of the Ethyl classic car group. Their display stand was set up and I was meeting in the Volunteer greenhouse at 10AM to sketch, paint, and discuss for a couple of hours. I arrived early, and ended up talking engines, oil, nude bicylists, his nephew, south seattle for about 45 minutes. He was a very nice man, had beautiful blue-grey eyes, and at that moment I decided I wanted to show my support in some clothing manner. In the afternoon, my spontaneous mission was to find a sticker or t-shirt that said, "I'm a lesbian in a straight man's body". Can you believe that people weren't able to pinpoint a store or booth in all of Capitol Hill that this coud be found? Eh, maybe not so surprising. Through asking around, we ended up at the Crypt. Nada. I settled on a sparkly Roy G Biv lightening bolt sticker for the glass of Guiness which stood proudley de-caled on the "ad" shirt I was wearing. Exhausting day it was, but feel refreshed enough to dance and march today, whereever it may be.

This years pride parade suffered from the same doom that encircles the family in all corners. Its amazing how deep and pervasive self-hatred goes. It even expresses itself disguised as "pride"...

It isn't the wicked republicans or christians that will kill us, we seem to be doing a great job on our own.

You know, Seattle is full of "Stick up the Butt Liberals" and all I am going to say is fucking lighten up already!! Christ, Pride weekend is about having fun and you know what, that is a good thing to do from time to time. Take the parade and all the rest of it with a grain of salt and just enjoy or stay the fuck home and sulk.

Besides, once Bush declares marshall law and himself dictator for life we won't have any more parades.
