The Rat Woman

posted by on June 6 at 11:01 AM

Room 101:

Officers seized more than 100 pet rats, dozens of rabbits and other animals including several birds from the home of an 81-year-old woman, who was later treated at a hospital for what appeared to be bites, authorities said.
By the way, the Shona word for “rat” is the same as the name for that blue muppet with a long beak, Gonzo.

She's probably lucky they still had something else to eat. Even the sweetest pet rat - and they can be very sweet pets - will eat anything that sits still once they get hungry. Including you, or one another.

What is it with rats this year, anyway? I've lived in the same place for 8 years, and all those years, I've had a tin filled with birdseed in my garage. This year, rats found it and chewed through the bottom of the tin and ate or fouled all the seed. We've already trapped two of the bastards in the last couple of weeks. (Thank you, peanut butter and Victor traps.)

Don't drag Gonzo down to the level of crazy rat lady by association. It's not a proper beak, btw. It's a nose, as is implied by the flexibility expressed in many classic Muppet skits.

Wow, I'm a dork.

Didn't Gonzo also keep a bunch of rats-as-pets too? Hmm....
