God I hate Chris Matthews.
Chris Matthews get my vote for "douche bag of the year". I may even hate him more than O'Reilley.
Well, ok, they are on par. Stupid Fucking Chris Matthews.
NY State Assembly passed a marriage equality bill. They are the third legislative body in the US to do this (the other two are in CA).
The difference: NY Gov Spitzer submitted the bill and will sign it into law. CA Gov Chicken BootyGrabber only vetoes bills sent to him.
Here is a quote from the NY Times coverage:
"Assemblywoman Barbara M. Clark, a Queens Democrat, had a number of unusual concerns. She said that “same sex couples can’t reproduce and repopulate the United States.”
I didn't realize that the US needed repopulation...can we get rid of trash like her first, then begin repopulation?
We need a civil war. JUMP JUMP!
aw yeah, GTA IV baby.
Well, I guess that solves the question of "which overpriced gaming console are we going to end up buying?" Xbox, here comes our moneyz.
Uh, Jessica, the XBOX360 is reasonably priced. Also, it's been out for quite some time now (and it's still better than the PS3 & Wii).
If you were ever going to buy one of the three, you'd already own it.
that SC campaign chair is also the STATE TREASURER btw. Worth mentioning, or you just want to slam my campaign?
patrick @ 3: "I didn't realize that the US needed repopulation...can we get rid of trash like her first, then begin repopulation?"
Hilarious! I have the same argument for "Life is precious" people. Life isn't precious. It isn't even rare.
And this kook is worried that gays "can't reproduce." Whatta dumb shit.
Also, I LOVE the Rudy story.
@7: Uh, wha? I'm sorry, maybe I missed the latest benchmarks. How is the Xbox unilaterally better than the Wii and the PS3? Did it score more Standard Metric Goodness Units or something?
How about this:
--The PS3 has the most impressive hardware and the highest price. The Wii has the least impressive hardware and the lowest price. The Xbox falls between the two on both counts.
--The XBox probably has the most good quality games. I'd say the Wii is second-ish (third party devs are having a hard time making good use of the Wii's controller) and the PS3 barely has any games at all (it's absolute hell to develop for).
--I think it's fair to say the Wii is, by far, the most innovative (The Xbox and PS3 are both basically the same as their previous iterations, but with more powerful hardware, whereas Nintendo is creating new play mechanics).
For my money, I'd get a Wii (powerful hardware is pointless unless you're doing something interesting with it; My old Gamecube still throws down gaphics that impress me), but your mileage obviously may vary. If you're concerned that someone might see you playing a kid's game (i.e. a game with colors), you might want to go with the XBox.
Don't buy a PS3.
The PS3 has a serious over-heating issue due to it's hardware, and the ridiculous idea to throw the power supply inside of the console. The hardware is barely better than the XBOX 360, which doesn't matter because the PS3 has some serious issues with game selection. The BluRay is cool, if you want to get mixed up in the battle between HDDVD and BR (be my guest, I'm waiting). Other than that, the only cool things we're seeing for the PS3 aren't even available yet. LittleBigPlanet and Home. The PS3 online store is a fucking joke. The download speed is ridiculous, and it takes 500 steps to purchase a single goddamn game.
The Wii is a great console for the family, or for the average gamer. The only problem is the game selection outside of Wii Sports, oh, and the graphics are a diarrhea. I don't have any beef with the Wii. Nintendo is doing their thing, remaining true to families like they always have, and it works. It's a fun little console; it's just not comparable to either the PS3 or the XBOX 360. It's kind of in it's own league.
The XBOX 360 is by far the best console on the market right now. SNES is still my favorite system, but if I were born seven years ago, the 360 would be my #1 choice. Other than the obvious perks (graphics, speed, download speed, interface), the games are incredible. Gears of War was enough to take me away from CSS forever, Lost Planet was wicked fun eye-candy, and many titles are blasting out within the next 6 months that gamers of all types are waiting for. Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3.
Back to the PS3: Read up on what they had to do to Oblivion. They have to do that with almost every open world game. Morons. Oh, and where's the rumble feature? The Wii could handle the motion with the rumble. Why can't Sony? Why is Sony slacking? Point is: If you're charging $600 for your system, you'd better have some crazy cool launch titles to go with it. The PS3 does not. Resistance is practically the same goddamn map over and over again, and the fucking game lasts for eternity. I could go on, but I'm just ranting. I'll stop. Twa.
*graphics are diarrhea
Regarding the Wii and its family-friendliness . . . I heard that they're going to be releasing Manhunt 2 for the Wii. That should make for some ultra-creepy gameplay.
Chris Mathews? Please, he was getting all homoerotic about Fred Thompson getting into the race last week... It was as bad as him talking about Bush's crotch piece during the Mission Accomplished speech... Poor Mathew's is a closet case.
Obviously, the Wii will have Mature games. Nintendo has always produced such games - just not as extreme as the competition they've had throughout the years (Remember SEGA does what Nintendon't). Even in their Mature rating, they lack certain elements that other consoles had -- so they kind of censor certain parts. Most of these Mature games would never be fun on the Wii. Have you seen Splinter Cell for the Wii? It's fucking atrocious. Furthermore, the Wii controller works swell for Wii Sports and shit like that. For FPS games, it's dogshit. I'm sure somebody out there enjoys it, but I have yet to meet that person.
In the long run, I would love to see great games come out for the Wii. That's just not going to happen though, at least not for the uber gamer. You'll never see advanced AI on the Wii, and the graphics will never be comparable to XBOX 360 or PS3. By that, I mean not even close. The graphics are practically the same as the Gamecube. It's a vomit splash right in the face.
@11, 16 - Wii still p0wns both the xBox360 and the PS3, no matter how you slice it.
Fun is fun.
That said, PS3 crash and burn saved the 360.
I never thought Slog would be a place for debate about video game consules.
Remember the classic rule of forums, people; Arguing on the internets is like running in the special olympics - even if you win, you're still retarded.
Will, if you do not know what you're talking about, you should consider shutting the hell up.
Fun IS fun, which is why the 360 is better than the Wii. It has MORE fun games than the Wii.
A promo for Chris Matthews had "Giuliani" misspelled as "Guiliani." Fucking idiots.
@18
Right. Argumentation is acceptable everywhere but the Internet.
I wish I were as retarded as you are. Then I could say excessively used crass comments like you just did and think I'm witty.
Moron.
