Chow The Meaning of Betty
posted by June 21 at 14:18 PM
onBetty is the name of a new restaurant on top of Queen Anne. (It’s owned by the same people who own Crow, on lower Queen Anne.) The name Betty may conjure up a number of things: someone’s great-aunt’s dessert, or Betty Boop/Betty-and-Veronica/Bettie Page/Bette Davis, or Betty as the term for a female snowboarder. But somebody (delicately) said it’s also slang for “a certain part of the female anatomy.” News to me.

who knew it was code for weed?
Lauren Bachall's nickname was Betty and now the term Betty refers to a beautiful woman in the mold of Betty Bachall. See Clueless.
I can't separate Betty from Veronica (and wouldn't want to).
IIRC, "Betty" was also used by the '60's surfing subculture when referring to a female wave rider, and thus the source for the term later co-opted by snowboarders.
@4 is right.
# 4 is correct but I think the owners just liked the name. Said "They never met a Betty they didn't like." Now, with Bethany's topic that could be a littel dirty. I never met a hoo-haa I didn't like...
Always heard it as retro-flavored slang, a generic term for an attractive woman. As in "Hello, Betty!"

I hope they have more competent staff than Crow. I ate there once and it was a miserable experience.
Shake, shake, shake,
Shake, shake, shake,
Shake your betty!
Shake your betty!

Crow is fab grumpypants. Can't wait to try Betty! One bad experience could be a fluke, or just your lousy attitude.
so, you do know what part of the female anatomy "bethany" is slang for, right?
