Slog - Comments on The March of Reason

Is this yet another indication that we are nearing the end of the terrible Bush era? One day before five Seattle-area residents were to stand trial on charges that they took part in a conspiracy to import and distribute khat, a leafy plant chewed like tobacco in parts of eastern Africa, a federal judge dismissed all charges against them. U.S. District Court Judge James Robart dismissed the case Monday at the request of the same government prosecutors who initiated the prosecution nearly a year ago. In the way that the Bush administration cooked up a link between Saddam Hussein and...

Tru' dat, fo' shizzle.

They also need to figure out what paying with a credit card means. That way, I don't have to remind them a thousand times that I said that's how I was paying. You are not getting cash, you pathetic pile of shit. We discussed this before I got in the fucking cab. Oh, okay, go ahead and make some 'calls' on your cell phone to make it seem like I've complicated this entire process. Yeah, here you go. Here's my card. And here's your tip. Oh, I wrote zero? Imagine that.

Two things:

1) Most of my cab rides in Seattle have been pleasant.
2) I don't understand how people can not have any sort of cash on them. I'm not a luddite, I love my debit card, but damn... having alternative sources to cover all monetary transactions just seems like a simple and smart thing to do. I mean, not even having a $20 in your wallet? Crazy.

I never need cash. I'm either using my company card, my card, or my debit card. This way I constantly have my every-financial move recorded online for my record. Then I can import that information into whatever .xls I use to monitor the statistics of how I spend my money, when I spend my money, and where I should to reduce my spending.

Makes sense to me.

Fair enough, but it seems like the time savings difference for adding in a cash item vs scanning, processing, signing would be relatively neutral. But that would also mean you'd have to keep track of those purchases through receipts which is a pain in it's own right.

I've just had too many situations where, for whatever reason, cash has been my very good friend when my cards just didn't work. For me, it's all about convenience and piece of mind.

I'll go back to my cave now, lol.
