Which makes me wonder... why doesn't SLOG have its own flickr pool?

in the world of street art I would say Seattle is lagging. Check out this link for some of the brilliant pieces created in San Francisco. Come on Seattle pick up your spray cans!

This is sad. Just go out and appreciate the art first hand. It's not a gallery out there, it's life.

#3. What is sad? And who's to say life is not the biggest gallery of all??

True, jim, but I certainly don't encourage my kid to look at flickr.

Where's the SURPRISE in seeing something on the street? We've even had a few discussions with other people who are noticing the same graffiti, mural, telephone pole, whatever.

flickr might be amusing and informative. Outside rare occasions though, it devalues the experience when you're taking a photo or thinking about its future caption .

Aren't there enough photos already to keep us stimulated?

I do some sticers, but mostly do static cling since it can be removed and collected easily. Look out for it and take it home with you!!

I spelled "stickers" wrong in my post. Here's the correction: "stickers."

Re: darius and jim,
For the photographers taking the photos of street art and putting them on flickr, that's what we do! We see it all first hand, live, and sometimes in action.

There's tons of good pieces out there that many people won't see because their daily travel patterns don't take them there. They can either live vicariously via flickr, or get inspired to go find the pieces they've seen in photos. Or who knows, maybe actually make something themselves. Crazy idea that.

Anyway, sometimes the photograph is better than the art that is being photographed.

"Aren't there enough photos to keep us stimulated?" Curious question. You want we stop taking photos? How do you like to be "stimulated" anyway?

And to @2 > yes, I agree. Seattle is in want for more elaborate graffiti.

And yes, I vote for a Slog flickr pool too.

You know, it stops being art when you spray paint it or stencil it on someone's garage.

where do you print your static clingies at?

I make the static clings and all the stickers at my studio in Georgetown. I have fun machines that do all the printing and cut any shape I want. Yay!
