They did this same thing with an umbrella and some aluminum foil. Think about it: its a perfect trade. We don't need the umbrellas much in the summer, so we can just use them as our grill until the months where we have no sun to grill.

We had meals from the solar oven many night a week in the summers. In Sacramento having a no-heat oven in the summer is an awesome thing.

I assume they would work for a shorter span of time here, but they should still work.
