Slog - Comments on Rodney Tom

Postman's got the scoop that Republican Rep turned Democratic Rep. Rodney Tom (D-48, Eastside Seattle Suburbs) may run against Darcy Burner for the Democratic nomination in the 8th Congressional District (Dave Reichert's seat). I gave Tom tons of coverage last year and this year as he switched parties, won, and hit the legislature where he led on things like the sex ed bill and gun control....

What scoop? This rumor has been out there for weeks now. It isn't happening.

I like Rodney just fine -- where he is. But he was one of only four Democratic NO votes in the state Senate against the Maury Island Marine Reserve bill.

Jay Inslee, Jim McDermott, Adam Smith, and Norm Dicks all support Puget Sound cleanup. Rodney must think that his relationship with scumbag Glacier and Wal-Mart lobbyist Steve Gano is worth more to him than the votes of hundreds of thousands of voters who want the Sound cleaned up and the evil Glacier gravel mine stopped.

We're glad to have him in the Democratic Party and in the state Senate. But he wouldn't be helping himself, the Party, not the voters in the 8th District if he went up against Darcy now. He wouldn't beat her in a primary anyway, and my guess is that he'll think better of it.

Love how Josh describe's Tom's district as "eastside seattle suburbs"

Tom represents cities on the eastside Josh. They are cities. One's more diverse than Seattle. Those big buildings going up across the Lake are not a reflection of Seattle off the water.

Get off Cap hill for once.
