I don't want to beat a dead horse, but what exactly is a nat'l poll good for? The only polls that really matter are in IA, NH, NV, and SC.

Well, it is a popularity contest. If people think that one candidate is popular nationally, they might vote for them.

In general, Senator Clinton has more name recognition than Senator Obama. Sometimes that's all it takes. More people have heard of her than him.

It's Gallup. Don't pay any attention.

Who the hell is for Hillary over Obama, anyway? Do they WANT Mitt to be president? NO YOU DON'T.

For real. Where the fuck are the Americans they interviewed from? I know dupes that still think Hillary was involved in murder conspiracies, and none of the erstwhile Dems I know have much love or trust for her either. She just can not win in the USA - there's too much (mostly) irrational hatred of her. I used to favor Edwards over Obama, but Barack smacked that down nicely in debate. I honestly think this polling shit is heavily manipulated to pick the "safe" candidates, whether people actually like them or not- which is the kind of "info" that gave us Kerry last time around.
But who knows? Maybe a bunch of women out there are pro-Hillary just because they want some long overdue representation. Or something. But it's just hard to believe she's that popular. Really hard.

Is Hillary a loser?
Consider this.

In the last ten days there have been three highly negative stories about Obama.
1. the Obama campaign tried dirty policits telling reporters to write about Hillary having had investments in Indian companies in her blind trust and also taking campaign donations from Indian-Americans. The Obama campaign had a statement referring to her as "Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)." oopsie. Result: many stories about how Obama is not above policits as he claimes, demands he apologize from Indian-Americans, etc.
2. Obama took lots of donations from some indicted businessman back in Chicago. Not that there's anything wrong with that the NYT said in its front page story on this.
3. Today: Obama donations from indicted businessman are 3x bigger than Obama claims.
#1 is admittedly spread by Hillary.
#2 and 3 obviously were spread by Hillary.
The result is Obama is tarnished a bit and more important -- he couldn't get his own message out for the last week.
She's up in the polls.
Now who do you want to fight the huge Republican smear campaign when they claim that the Democratic candidate is a traitor who wants to lose who doesn't support the troops and (if it is Obama) put up pictures of Obama next to some lefty preacher ? Is Obama really Obambi?

And yet, Clinton loses more to Gore than Obama does if he pops up.

Trust me, it's going to be Gore/Obama 08.
