It's not just Fort Lewis -- Fort Drum over here in NY is switching as well:

But they claim it's "more to do with scheduling than an increase in losses." Yeah, right.
“Suppression of genuine opposition, abridgement of the right to protest, and the decline of media freedom are all serious setbacks.” U.S. State Dept. trashes Putin.
pot meet kettle, motherfuckers
I hope Putin's reply was "right back at ya!"
@ war pigs: Read Al Gore's book "Assult on Reason" He does a great job explaining how the administation trashes basic liberties and does it without so much as a peep out of the American people. And after re-reading the Federalist Papers and some Thomas Paine my only question is why haven't we either revolted or succeded from the Union? But you know, I am just some looney liberal... (and to think 10 years ago I thought myself as slightly left of center but my core beliefs never changed...the government has changed)
The government hasn't changed. It's evolved. This was all bound to happen. Sonya Blade saw it coming, but nobody would listen to her.
One troublesome thing I heard about Al Gore is that he want to resurrect the Fairness Doctrine, used in the days when there was only radio and 3 TV networks. OK, then Rush Limbaugh has to have John Stewart on his show. Fine. But then Al Franken has to have Ann Coulter?
I’m oversimplifying it, but that’s the thrust of it.
Yeah, I know. I've been saying for a long time that torture is wrong, waterboarding is a war crime, close Guantanamo, etc.
But I think I'd make an exception for the "King of Spam". Jail time is simply insufficient punishment for that asswipe.
I found the most shocking part of the article on Dan Bartlett to be his age: 36. That MF looks 46 or older. Rats off a sinking ship, indeed.
Ah Raindrop the major issue with the Fariness dotrine that we need back is to get the news back into the news. And since both Rush and Jon are considered "entertainment" they would not be affected.
When Reagan killed it off in the 1980's it allowed broadcasters to see the evening news and news coverage no longer as broadcasting in the public interest but instead as an additional revenue driver for the networks. Prior to that the news was always considered to be a money loosing proposition but one broadcasters lost money on since they used the public airwaves.
And since we have four or five media conglomerates controlling the media in the US it would be nice to have some accountability to check the power of the large corporations. The marketplace is simply not doing that. But the conusmer has some responsibility not consume junk but if it is only junk that people have access to what are they going to get for news? Not everyone has the access to internet or other news sources. And a world that just watches CBS or Fox for facts is a scary world indeed.
And here’s the resignation story of Karl Rove’s protégé, Tim Griffin, who is quitting the US attorney’s office after being appointed by Gonzales in December in the wake of the US attorney firings.
Has anyone else noticed a trend of Republicans who are pasty, bloated and look 10 to 20 years older than their actual age?

@ Original Andrew: Now I am going to have to listen to Randi Rhodes today. She should have some interesting comments on that.
@ 9 - I think that guy looks 38, like the article says he is. Pasty and bloated, yes, but late 30s all the way. Bartlett, on the other hand, looks like he's pushing 50 like you said earlier.
Has anybody heard of any conspiracy theories about the man with TB? Some of the facts so far could produce some whoppers.
As much as I dislike and generally ignore the NBA, even I realize that we're watching a superstar mature dramatically game to game. I may even be inclined to watch entire games if the Cavs make the finals.
Rebranding the Red Bushie party: I suggest they change their slogan from Permanent Republican Majority to Permanent Republican Minority.
Truth in advertising.
@ Richard
It is more suped up fear hype by the media. It is better than paying attention to other things like the War in Iraq, the War in Afganastan, destruction of the Bill of Rights. You know, keep people scared all the time. Fear fear fear!!! Be scared of the planes because you never know who you are sitting next to.
It's not the City Council's nightlife proposal.
It's /Sally Clark's/ nightlife proposal.
