Someone should fax or email the judge every single "Every Child Needs A Mother And Father" slog you've posted to-date.

So I assume there was a nice mom and dad standing nearby to immediately start raising this child in all their heterosexual splendor? Because I can how ripping the kid away from his parents is, you know, the FIRST STEP towards a happy life, but I hope there's follow-through. These bigots always have follow-through, don't they?

Because if there isn't, then I suggest engraving the text of every single "Every Child Needs a Mother and a Father" slog post on giant stone tablets, and stacking them on this asshole judge's chest until the life is squeezed out of him

Or recalling him. Dallas? Voters?

Dear Dallas gay folks, please move here. They clearly don't want you. We do.

Regards, Seattle's straight folks

ps: cute kids

If this happened before November of last year, which I suspect it did, this bigot was thrown out with all the other Republican judges. The Dems swept all county judgeships last year.

Okay, this is a story for all those who whine about Dan's "every child needs..." posts.

Wasn't there a story not that long ago talking about how liberal Dallas, TX is to the gays these days? Apparently everywhere but court.

The article went on to refer to him with his hyphenated name, so hopefully a higher court overruled the judge. I don't think she really had much of a right to refuse it anyway. Generally, the only barriers to a legal name change are when you do it to avoid crimes, or fraud. In the case of a minor, there should be no issue at all as long as the parents agree and it's not related to custody. Coming from Guatemala, this child would've only had one legal parent after adoption and should've had no problems at all changing his name... should've being the key word...
It was a good article though about gay parenting - check it out...

Similar to your "They Will Know I Hate Christians..." posts, your "Mother and Father" slogs lack credibility and come off as ignorant. Again, you take bad people doing bad things, and make the common denominator "man/woman parenting".

Do you think that the people that run around claiming that "every child needs a father and mother" think that there aren't horrible parents out there in this world? Your argument can be easily disregarded because it carries a discriminatory tone. You can't convince intelligent people to agree with you when you use these kinds of generalizations.

What's next Dan? Slog posts that list horrendous crimes committed by black people, so that we can draw the conclusion that all black people are violent criminals? What about all those greedy Jews and thieving Mexicans?

No, no...of course not. That kind of bigotry doesn't fit your agenda.

Don't fret. Fox News already has that under control.

Butterw, Devil, et al.:
sto being so deliberately stupid and ignorant.
Dan is clearly responding in kind to the right wingers and their ilk -- you that is -- who routinely say gays are "bad" to have as parents -- showing that all kinds of straights are very, very bad to have as parents.

He is not tagging all straights with being bad parents.

He is not out there saying "no straights should be parents, only gays should be parents."

And your pseudo adoption of a Seattleish, goo-goo, "let's not discrimniate, now!" posture fools no one.
Shut up and go back to hell.

@The Devil: Your comparisons don't work, which means maybe you do not understand what pointing out hypocrisy is, living in hell and all??
/rolls eyes

Here is the comparison: If african americans or mexicans or any other group was still denied rights because they were considered a "danger" to society (like they were, uh, less than 50 fucking years ago...), then Dan would post "Every person needs to be white..." and the posts would talk about white people commiting crimes and being a danger to society.

Same goes for Jewish people. If the Jews were all over TV, radio, and internet claiming to be moral authority, and claiming to be the only people to "save" the world, dissing on Dan's family, taking his rights away, etc I imagine that Dan would make posts poking the holes in their claims. "You will know we are jews by our..."

His posts don't imply that all christians are bad, all hetero are bad parents, or what have you; it is just highlighting the cultural hypocrisy here in the USA, and poking holes in their "claims" that deny him his rights. For fuckssake, it seems obvious to me...

A lot of dumb haters on the Slog in the last 2 days. Christ on a cracker....

For anyone out there in the TX bar. Please find the name of this judge and report him or her to the state commission on judicial misconduct. And the state bar association. The identity of a litigant or petitioner is never a basis for this kind of egregiously disrespectful conduct from the bench.

It's so odd that the same Dallas where an openly gay man made it to the run off for mayor has a judge who's that big a dick.
