Homo Isaiah Washington Fired

Looks like that PSA Isaiah Washington made isn’t doing his career any good. Washington has been fired from Grey’s Anatomy.
While this does mean he’s losing out on a lucrative career on a hit show, if he disavows the PSA he made, maybe he can get nominated for Surgeon General.
Shame. Pffft.
This news is, I have to say, Bad For The Gays. It's going to look like the pink mafia got his black ass fired -- and play to the right's persecution fantasies. "See? If you criticize homos -- powerful, powerful homos! -- they'll destroy you!"

This is upsetting. As a guy, he's an insensitive, egotistical jerk, and I can understand the decision on a personnel level. As a character on the show, though, I love him, and he's important and there will be a big hole without him.
Is being called a fag a valid criticism? Well...mmm.
Is being a Powerful Homo That Can Destroy something you should worry what the right thinks about?
DAMN. I concur with Alslinn.....I love his character. Plus, he's hot.
I dunno. I'm glad that a guy who uses slurs is held accountable for his actions. I don't think people are blaming the pink mafia; they're blaming him.
Personally, I don't watch the show much, but when I heard about this, I stopped watching entirely. Maybe other people did, too.
However, it it was ratings that got him booted, then they should have taken a look at the main character, Margaret Grey...Cute, but Zzzzz...
I'm with Aislinn - the show will be worse without him. I'm conflicted about the actor, though. On a personal level, I'm happy with seeing repercussions for IW's actions on the job, but I am a little suspicious about the timing. Why wait all these months if they were going to fire him?
@7: They didn't fire him, they just declined to renew his contract. I assume he was still within his contract for the remainder of the season after the hullaballoo.

Remember he also choked Patrick Dempsey. In most sane workplaces slurs and physical attacks are not tolerated - no matter the role of the employee.
@9 You gotta be pulling in $20 million per picture before you can get away with that.
No, he couldn't make it as Surgeon General because even with his acting role as a doctor and his dislike of T. R. Knight in real life, he would be considered too "uppity" to be accepted.
