Well, if Rudy is elected, he'll probably quickly become the President With The Most Often Misspelled Last Name... :)

I really do not care about Rudy and doubt he will get the nomination. Worry about Fred Thompson; the base of the GOP loves him and he has already raised more money at this point in his campaign than he planned on raising prior to his formal announcement next week. Worry about Thompson a lot....

Once upon a time McCain said Hillary Clinton would make a good president.

They're all a bunch of lying baby-lickers.

Rudy Giuliany told Peter Jennings in a live interview that he was told the WTC twin towers would collapse before they did. He now denies this foreknowledge. Giuliani's staff had freelance reporter Matt Lepacek removed and arrested from a recent post-GOP-debate press conference in order to avoid answering questions about his foreknowledge.

This is all available for your own listening and viewing. See the link above for details. Additionally, WNBC in New York reported a transcript of the Jennings Interview.

(Apologies to everyone who is already aware of this. The Stranger, are you concerned about press being ejected by police from a press conference at the behest of a political candidate who does not like the press' line of questioning?)

@6 Yes, yes, you post this every time Giuliani comes up. We know, but post it when it's something more directly relevant.

Anyways, onto the actual post. Of course, he's attacking Bill. He knows that nothing gets the base more riled up than Bill Clinton. I mean, how dare he bring about unprecedented peace and prosperity? If he drops another two points, get ready to hear more about Monica. Two points after that, Paula Jones. Two points beyond that, and he'll dive right off into "Vince Foster was murdered" land, and begin distributing Falwell's tape claiming that Bill was a coke smuggler.

The more I learn about Rudy, the less I like him. It seems the Republicans feel the same way.

The man is running for President of The United States on his supposedly-stong-leadership during the 9/11 disaster. Until the simple mention of his name conjures images of Giuliani lying about 9/11, and of his staff bullying reporters into not asking about 9/11 -- going so far as to have police toss a reporter out of a press conference, break his camera, and arrest him for trespassing, then to warn other reporters not to ask any more questions about 9/11 -- I think this is relevant to every discussion of Giuliani.

The first step towards making that happen is to get even a single mainstream news source (that includes alt-weeklies like The Stranger) to report on this. None have. Why not? Does anyone here think this is something unworthy of reporting?

If you told the average American that one or more Presidential candidates had made contradictory statements about his foreknowledge of the World Trade Center twin towers' collapse, and that the press are not allowed to ask about said foreknowledge, do you think that average American would believe it? "Oh, no. Not in The United States. We have a free press." Bullshit. Not any more, we don't.

Would someone from The Stranger care to explain why this is not worthy of reporting?

@7 : I can't see how demonizing Clinton works for these jokers any more. The Clinton years were sunshine and gumdrops compared to the miasma we're currently living through.

@11 It won't work in the general, but it's vital in the primary. The only people who vote in GOP primaries are sick, deluded individuals who only think with the lizard brain, and when they do bother to think, come to the conclusion that America is overrun with heroin pushing abortionists who are going to outlaw church, and that dammit, Bill and Hillary are responsible, damned pot smoking hippies who believe that the pleasurable aspects of sex aren't sins. For assholes like that, this is the red meat. Since Rudy can't throw these demonstrably insane people the usual bones of abortion or gays, he's gonna use the Clintons.

Pat Robertson had some very favorable comments this week about Rudy's speech in Virginia.
