IN B4 SHITSTORM

More than a 1 in 10 chance, and still I fall for the girl who is adamant she is straight. Or adamantly terrified of being gay, since she doesn't like guys and has been in love with me for a year...without sexual contact. Grr, I hate closet cases. I'm so off topic.

Hey, this is good news. More bi girls to play with to get over her.

Wow… from 4 percent to 11.5? What percent increase is that? Like, 100 percent +, right?

Close to a 200% increase. But the cohorts are not the same. 18-44 (27 years) versus 18-59 (42 years). A hefty chunk of the "increase" could be due to that. On the other hand, the older women have had more time to get it on with each other.

"...some sexual behavior experts to light-heartedly refer to the term “LUG,” or “lesbian until graduation,” said Craig

When the diplomas hit their hands they become Hasbians.

I don't suppose this could have anything to do with the fact that most guys in that age group are mindlessly horny, obnoxious, emotionally immature premature ejaculators?

A lot of my lesbian friends complain about how their ranks tend to thin out around the age of 30. My theory is that straight guys younger than that basically aren't worth talking to, let alone fucking, and that some women just mistake understandable lack of attrraction to a pack of walking hard-ons for lesbianism.

Judah, it sounds like all the girls I know who tried veganism.

Once you go meat, you never go back.

Unless of course that meat is attached to an 18 year old who never showers, comes in a minute and a half and says cunnilingus is "gross".

I know I started having sex with women because men are so diseased—I don't know about you.

I really wish journalists would have to take a "how to compute percentages" course in order to get a journalist certificate.

The answer to why they would be "trying to avoid diseases more commonly spread through sex with men" can be satisfactorily answered by removing "diseases more commonly spread through sex with".

I always hear about this sort of thing...mostly from Dan Savage. But not all bi girls who end up with men are suddenly strait, you know...just because you choose one as a life partner doesn't mean you give up lusting after/having sex with the other.

Dianna, if you've never had experience of bi-for-attention girls, I wanna live where you are. It's ridiculously common.

I wonder what the stats are for men. I know plenty of men that are at the very least trying out the bi/gay thing.

I would attribute all of this to the fact that sex is just not a big deal anymore. Its like "whatever, sex big fucking deal" directly in opposition to what the religious right/parents preach. Kids now know the truth: get it while you are young and you want it, before you a labored down with a soul-less job and a mortgage, cause at least you can say "one time I was HELLA freaky".

ok, shit. I should not drink and comment. Whatev's.

Rebecca,
I've known quite a few of those, but I think Dianna was just saying that the post intimated that that was the only way things happened.

My 17-year-old daughter (high school junior) says "almost every girl in school is bi now, at least for awhile". She claims that many girls who say they are bi are trying to attract guys (sort of like those Girls Gone Wild videos).

Ballard, I was going to say the exact same thing (apart from the bit about having a daughter ;-)). For girls it's "hip" to pretend to fall in love with women because that's what guys do, and it turns guys on. For men to have sex with men... oh no, that's degrading because that makes them more feminine. And that should be avoided at all cost!
I also think women are more likely to (consciously or subconsciously) repress their desires in order to fit society's standards. Which might explain why there are more gay men than gay women.

187.5% increase, though that's understating it due to the change in age ranges..

Some had to do it.

I'm lucky, I've dated a bi-for-attention girl and a genuine by-god bisexual. The latter was WAYYYYY better in bed.

I know a lot of girls who are unattractive and date women because they don't think they can attract guys.

Or could it be that women are finding that they know their own bodies best and another woman can please them in ways that a man never could? Does any man really know how a woman's sexual anatomy is supposed to work? Men and women are just not very compatible, sexually or otherwise. It makes sense to me that people of the same sex have better sex than people of opposite sexes.

Go on, girls.... more men for me! ;)

OhYesBelieveIt, women's tastes and pleasures vary greatly--different women like different things. One shouldn't assume that a lesbian knows how to please another woman any better than a man does, simply by virtue of having the same organs.

@ 24: It can be argued that the ways a woman can please a woman are all within the realm of how a man can please a woman, but then a man has one more tool in the shed...

I'm a straight man who only has emotional/dating relationships with women--but I also love to suck big black cocks! No male "lovers," "companions," or partners, no soft lingering kisses, no butt-fucking--just getting on my knees and servicing another dude's tool. The sexual purists out there will attempt to define me as "bi," "gay," fetishizing, or some other narrow bullshit. But like many of the women who answer these surveys, I could give a rat's ass what you call it--I like girls...and I like to suck cock. Tally it up however you like stat-freaks. Why do these numbers seem to obsess straight and gay people alike?

...and most of the rest of them who say they didn't are probably lying. Nearly every woman I know has at least made out with another girl, if not had a little fun. I'm so glad God made me like girls.

I have no interest in men, and never have. That's just who I am, I'm attracted to both the body and mind of women. People need to shut up about experimenting sexuality and just love someone. If you like guys, great, if you like girls, great. You like both? Great. Go do it. Stop "experimenting"; you can feel an attraction to someone. Plenty of straight people who have been attracted to the opposite sex and have failed relationships. The person you end up with defines you "who you are." You end up falling in love with a man and you say you are bi? You're a girl who is straight, because odds are that you are not going to cheat on your man, thus making you straight, 'cause you only now have sex with this man. Yeah, you can be attracted to the other sex, okay, well, you're over that now, since you chose to be with him as a lifelong partner. Until that day you break up and find someone new or cheat the fuck out of him and he says it's a-okay, you can't be "bi." Likewise with a man who says he's bi and ends up with a guy. He's gay. It's just easier this way if you want to label. Well, unless all you do is have sex, then why bother labeling if you just have a ton of sex? You want a label, you can settle with "hypersexuality" or something. And congrats to those who surely know who they want to spend the rest of your lives with-- you already know if you're straight or not.

HETEROSEXISM

Just a friendly reminder:

one typical manifestation of heterosexism is assuming that people who get it on with people of the same sex aren't actually queer, but have other motives other than good ole fashioned lust.

I know the attitude and the assumptions because I used to have the same ones before I turned into a homo myself.
