@1 In Europe they call soccer Football, I think. The only official sportcontest I've seen abroad was horse racing in Hong Kong.

@2 I knew. Alexi Lalas and Claudio Reyna did real well a few Olympics ago.

I suck at soccer, but Tullycraft and another band had a good game with a can of peas on the stage of the Olympia Film Fest.

Haven't seen Nascar -- but I did see Disney's Cars, and Taladega (sp?) Nights. So I consider myself something of an expert on NASCAR culture.

Since no one ever slams into a goal post and bursts into flames during a soccer game, soccer is duller than NASCAR.

It was the usual USA-Guatemala match, the USA scoring early and the Guatemalans playing a near-thuggish style. If the refs let them get away with it, why not? An interesting match, and good learning experience for the young pup Yanks. They can expect more of the same against El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago.

And the new head coach played Landon Donovan on the right, letting him know his former choice position in the middle must be earned. Might be the kick in the pants he needs after his disastrous World Cup non-performance.

Far more entertaining than the curling championship I saw, by the way.

Dan @9: Curling is the shizz. And pro-baseball is only good if you are tossed. Wait, make that ALL sports are only good to watch if you are tossed.

Also, nothing beats watching Futbol with some hooligans. Its rowdy, fun, and waaaayyy cooler than the "golf" crowd that watches the mariners games. ;)
