Oh my god, the first commenter on that link has that horrible picture of Dan as their icon! HA!

That isn't me. That's my sister.

Posted by Dan Savage | June 12, 2007 5:31 PM

Oh, I mean tubs = gross, not Dan's pic.

Posted by Dougsf | June 12, 2007 5:32 PM

I guess this answers the question, "Who the hell goes to Tubs?"
No one.

Posted by Ari Spool | June 12, 2007 5:38 PM

Tubs is dead? What will Crockett do?

Posted by Levislade | June 12, 2007 5:38 PM

I'm building a bar in my house, and the chance to score some inexpensive, used cool bar stuff (mini fridges, track lights, speakers) is tempting.

But, ugh. Everything in there has prolly been liberally splashed with the assorted body fluids of a hundred thousand hookers and their customers.

Posted by Dr_Awesome | June 12, 2007 6:10 PM

I went there once in high school since it was cheaper than a hotel. Ahh memories.

But yes, its gross.

Posted by Original Monique | June 12, 2007 6:39 PM

LOL@9: I kept asking people about it, but they all said the same thing: "I went once in high school, and it was nasty." I guess my sordid hot tub fantasies will not be lived out at Tubs.

Posted by Jessica | June 12, 2007 6:42 PM

It was better when it was an actual brothel. It's gone down hill since.

More Chris Crocker.

Tubs is being replaced by the latest in the never ending boom of crackerbox apartment/condo blocks, the oldest of which already look like mouldering slums (south of 45th).

Posted by David Jeffers | June 12, 2007 7:12 PM

Fuck! Protest! Lesser Seattle! Does my crack smell like chlorine?

Posted by Tim Keck | June 12, 2007 7:21 PM

Thank god. That place has been an open sore on the lips of the University District since before the Rainbow closed down.

Posted by Judah | June 12, 2007 7:23 PM

My friend X worked there for approx. two days, he walked in and was asked to clean the shit out of Room X, he went into Room X and found a steaming pile of human feces directly on the upward facing light and quit right then and there.

Good riddance. Tubs was disgusting, and when I was in college, there was this creepy old troll on all the time who always tried to talk me into going over there to get a "four handed massage" from his and his equally creepy boyfriend.

Posted by Gitai | June 12, 2007 8:36 PM

As I've said before, even the name is vomit worthy.

Posted by keshmeshi | June 12, 2007 9:37 PM

There was a thread about TUBS on the Slog not too long ago... I hope the girl who enjoyed eating Taco Bell burritos while soaking is doing okay. Where will she eat now??

Posted by Explorer | June 12, 2007 9:48 PM

I'm glad to learn that that place was exactly as icky as it always looked when I went by.

Posted by Matt from Denver | June 13, 2007 1:24 AM

they forgot to list air born chlamydia and gonnorhea as auction items.

Posted by brad | June 13, 2007 8:55 AM

hotels with hot tubs will make do..

Posted by sweeter than nicky | June 13, 2007 9:24 AM

@7 ha!

i went to tubs once, only once, to see what it was. the lobby alone freaked me out enough so that i never returned.

Posted by infrequent | June 13, 2007 10:40 AM

I went to Tubs once when I was engaged to my ex-wife.

Posted by Will in Seattle | June 13, 2007 11:04 AM

never went there, or had the inclination but i know people who have gone there and said it was clean and they had a good time...

i think it's a shame when 'alternative' businesses close...even if it's a place i have no desire to go today's irritating moral climate, you can't just open a sexually oriented business anywhere you want...and sadly, they're always replaced by something banal like a fucking condo, copy shop or dry cleaner..

Posted by michael strangeways | June 13, 2007 3:32 PM

Tubs was a relaxing enjoyable retreat from people with aberrant minds.

Posted by George | June 15, 2007 4:22 PM

What are you disgusting people talking about? TUBS was a very clean, fabulous place to tan. I loved the Andes mint that were provided in every tanning room. Meticulously clean tanning facilities and very friendly people.

I'll miss this unique establishment.
