As I understand it, the murder/suicide phenomena is a kind of suicidal depression. What keeps many people from committing suicide is concern over the people that would be "left behind".

Apparently, some people instead decide that what they should do is make sure they leave nobody behind. Then they can kill themselves with a free and clear conscience. :P

Crazy? Hell yah. But you can see the twisted logic in play.
