Great, I can't wait to get a centrist (now officially center rightist) in office. Then I can go back to bashing the neo-liberal center from the left again. Good times!

Much as I would like to see Obama energize this country and make a bold statement about racial tolerance, HRC has the Democratic Machine mobilized behind her... unless something changes... (and HRC is about as centrist, if not center-right, as her hubby Bill, the best Republican president the US ever had).

I think whoever we end up with will ultimately be on the center right, whether it's Clinton, Obama, Giuliani, or McCain. And the radical conservatives will become more so. The country has permanently moved right for the foreseeable future. To misquote the scifi masterpiece that is Aliens vs. Predator, no matter who wins, the left loses. As a lefty I get a tear in my eye at the prospect, but it will be nice to have someone who is at least competent in office.

But wouldn't it be cool if when HRC wins her second term in office she comes out as a lesbian? That would be cool.

More likely her winning would signal the coming of the Dynastic era and Jeb could succeed her and then Chelsea him. Then historians could publish books like "Dynastic Struggles of the Late American Republic" hundreds of years from now. That would almost make it worth it.

In all seriousness, I think she'll crush Obama for the nomination. I don't like her or Obama, but I know I'll be voting for one of them. Blech. Maybe the novelty of a woman or a dude of color in the white house will soften the pain.

Agreed. HRC gets the nomination. Obama has no chance against the maw of power hunger that is the Clinton campaign.

self-hating liberals?

i don't even know what that means - if i don't want a warmongering centrist triangulator as president, so i hate myself?

maybe you don't mean me, as according to joel connelly, i'm a "far leftist".

1) Nixon, our greatest Democratic president of the past 50 years > Bill Clinton, merely the best Republican of the past 50 years.

2) Giuliani's been taking a nose dive, check it out: http://www.pollingreport.com/wh08rep.htm

What does "Wev with" mean? Is that more of that crazy MyFace stuff the kids are always on?

Josh, surprised you didn't post the NYT cover story from yesterday on Giuliani. All those toxin-sick firefighters and 9/11 site workers are going to be Giuliani's swift boat. Except they're not lying.

What what be WAY cooler was actually having a preznident that was somewhat to the left of your average goosestepper. Just because she probably prefers women doesn't mean that she is a good choice for our countries leader people!
FUCK MAN, WHY DON'T WE JUST SHOOT OURSELVES AND SAVE THEM THE TROUBLE!?

You might as well vote fer Mary Cheney, "Yea! she's gay!, too bad she's shoving me into a gas chamber..."
I'm sure that is advancing the cause SOMEHOW ?!WTF!
When several generations to the future they read 'they came for the X people first' I'm sure it will have SO much more resonance.

WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE !!!

Are we such dupes?

Oh boy!

One has skin color!
One is female (& maybe gay!)

I shit myself! Who cares if one is pandering to the religious and the other might as well be a bona fide Reichwinger except for an issue or two?

I'll sell EVERYTHING done the river because on the surface they are like ME!

YEA!

Watch me fuck myself (& everyone else & the future & the rest of the world)

I'm sure it will be SO satisfying when they sell you down the river...

It's true we're destined in this winner-take-all 51% wins (or 48% and rigged voting machines) system. I dare anyone to name a LEFTIST president the US ever had? It's always Center, Center/Right, Right. The pendulum only swings half-way...

Um, could somebody please comfort me by saying that Obama and HRC might get too ugly and turn people off paving the way for my man John Edwards?

I need to cling to this illusion. Please help.
