What a surprise. Nobody really compromised and everyone feels good about themselves. Everyone should ALWAYS feel good about themselves.

Am I missing something here - two organizations got together to creat a larger good. What is the big deal - the parade needed to have changes. it is certainly not the same parade that originally started in Pioneer Square, nor is the same parade that graced Broadway after its move, nor is the same event that never minded the dyke parade at night - changes is good!

Formidable you say. And what I see are these corpulent lesbians unable to keep a beat while wandering through jets of water.
Your utopic vision of lesbians gone wild among a crowd of underweight poetry student scions of the haute gourguoisie - this does not even even rate a demi-squirt of my vaseline tube.
Vive la difference! Salopes!

It's over, Dan. Time to move on.

There's plenty of blame to go around.

Including yours.

dr. thompkins,

How is Dan to blame? Let's see, he offered early on to support the march downtown and put together a float contest. When the group putting on the march announced they would no longer produce their festival following the march, a group of people wanting to raise money for their own group sent out an email stating so and Dan printed it. Since then, Dan has informed us all about the news and moves around all the events. Does he support the events downtown? Seems like it, but he certainly isn't causing the problems.

The real drama here is created solely by the LGBT Center trying to produce a rival event and parade on the Hill. Starting last year and continuing this year Shannon from the LGBT Center has attempted to undercut SOaP's efforts to raise sponsorship money and tried to get people to boycott the events downtown. She tried to do her own festival and parade last year that were pretty bad failures, and this year attempted to do a parade the same day of SOaP's but has now backed off from that but is now trying to do a rival parade on the Hill the day before.

This isn't about two groups that need to come together. It's about the ED of the LGBT Center breaking away from the Official Seattle Pride March, attempting to create another march led by her in order to raise money for her organization. For the good of the community Shannon and the LGBT Center should back off. They should do their Queer Fest and Shannon should focus on her real job of running the Center, not trying to produce a parade and festival. Everyone else should support SOaP and SOaP should open their board to new members so the community can be truly involved.

The board of the LGBT Center needs to control Shannon, she is embarrassing them and is dividing the community, which probably isn't part of her job description.

Savage should be thanked by all for his great coverage of these happenings and his efforts to make the march downtown better.

enough of this bickering, let's start building. There's a float contest for the official Seattle Pride Parade downtown Sunday June 24. On the Pride website there are great places to get info on building floats - click on the "Parade Info" tab and scroll to the bottom of the page. This is the year the Pride March should take a step up.

Savage has done his best to heighten the discord to suit his own ego.

His vendetta against the LGBT center has entirely shifted the blame from SOAP who is the organization that has brought all of this to pass. It's called deflection. In his own mission to see the parade downtown he's found a new scapegoat for the implosion of SOAP. And now that the two parties responsible have said they're going to try and create together some sense of unity around this he continues to distort the situation.

It's time to stop. This compromise is the best solution to this messy battle.

It's time to stop. Go to whichever (or all) of the events on Pride weekend that you want to go to. Have a good time.

SOaP never lost money on the parade. Just fyi. SOaP the group that has planned on doing the parade for years, Shannon is the newby sowing the seeds of divisiveness. If she wasn't planning a new event with a new name to compete with the events downtown there would be no issue.

If you want it to end, then shut the hell up.

You're wrong, Frank. That's why it's so hard to shut up. As much as I'd like to it's hard when people keeping spinning half-truths and inacuracies.

The piece in Saturday's PI tells the real story. It tells you what happened on Friday and where everybody stands going forward.

It's fucking hillarious that you believe everyhting you read. Has anyone actually talked to anyone at SOAP or LGBT Center? I am guessing not. SHUT UP!
