Arts Today the Stranger Suggests

onIn the Pit(Film) While Seattle squabbled over a viaduct with a “blue-collar” view, Mexico City was building an 11-mile elevated freeway for the ease of its upper classes. This is a brilliant study of its construction and workers—their dangerous workplace, sexual taunting, and philosophical resignation to the fact that they will never own the cars their monument is intended to serve. A shrieking, noise-based score makes the mystical claim of some of the laborers—that for every bridge built, the devil takes one soul—seem almost persuasive. The Varsity rocks! Last film I saw there was with a single mom and her daughter. Eragon!
It was pretty good and then knocked my emotional core with the credit ending song by that girl who does Skaterboy. And just as a revealing endnote (yes I have my own blog, i should just shut up) I was driving in my car when that song came on the radio, and I rarely listen to the radio, because the 8 inch speakers are blown and for some reason cassettes have less basscrackle distortion. But it comes on, and since I downloaded it a month or so ago, I practically knew all the words. wailing My Own Private Kareoke (other drivers are wisely keeping their eyes on the road), tears began to stream. I need to get a life, more than what i'm living.
Eragon is arguably one of the worst movies ever made. At LEAST from 2006.
garrett, that's the funniest thing i've read all day. irony wrapped in sardony.
