Also, we marked the first consecutive months with 90 or more American soldiers killed in Iraq in the whole course of the war. How about that surge? 3,500 by June 10th?

I just looked at the voting record of our two Senators from Washington on the US Seante website. THEY VOTED FOR THE FUNDING BILL!!!! MY GOD!!!! I feel like I am a victim of Political Date Rape!!

You support a party that talks nice and makes all those sweet promises and then they screw you over! (And spare me the idea that this is how Washington politics work) 70% of Americans want out of Iraq NOW!! This is not some issue where we are evenly divided as a nation. What are Patty and Maria worried about? Bush's 30% approval ratings?

I already wrote to both Senators expressing my disappointment and suggested that the state of Washingston may need to look for new Democratic candidates to challenge them in their bids for re-election.

Okay, I am off my soap box now. Feel free to bitch me out Slog readers!

Mitt Romney clarified his position to state that he’s not intolerant of gays and lesbians just because he opposes equal rights.

Great! That means he’s simply a sadistic, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot - he’s the perfect candidate to lead this country.

He also said that he employed several gay men in his administration, though the identities of these Uncle Mo’s remains a mystery.

Who are the fools who believe this insane double talk, anyway?

@3 - Thanks for that information; I'd been wondering about that (KUOW mentioned something about the vote "splitting our delegation," but they must have been referring to congress). Those ladies have some 'splainin' to do.

@ Levislade. Forget the 'splainin' to do. We need to find two people to run against them in the primaries for 2010 (Patty is up for re-election then) and 2012 (Maria is up for re-election then). Any ideas for candidates?

But I did not find either of our Senators planning any events in Seattle this coming weekend. But then if I was them, I would not show my face around town either.....

Amen. I just wrote to both of them:

I am profoundly distressed and disappointed that Washington's Democratic senators voted to cave in to President Bush's ridiculous demands, and bowed to what amounted to his holding our troops hostage for more money to feed his despicable, deluded, wrong-headed war machine. You were under no obligation to send him a bill that met his demands. If he had really wanted to fund the troops he would have signed whatever you sent him, and he turned that down. The vast majority of this country wants us out of Iraq now - this is the major reason the Democratic party controls the House and the Senate - and you and your fellow Senators caved in to the deluded minority that thinks pouring more dollars, bullets and lives into Iraq will change anything.

This decision will figure strongly in my decision next time you come up for re-election, and I hope that someone else who is willing to represent the people of Washington and the United States decides to step up and seek the nomination for your seat.

"Light Rail: 49 miles of expansion coming soon to a ballot near you."

Oh sure, NOW they say 49 miles. Then they'll drop ten, a couple of years AFTER the vote.

That First Hill trolly? First thing to go . . . .

Well, if you vote for a Red Bushie for US Senator, you know what that means: 4 more years of War.

You takes what you gets.

But, seriously, send a handwritten postcard to both and complain. Let them realize what 70 percent of America thinks. The Beltway crowd still doesn't grok how much we despise them for keeping this Failure of a War going.

Maria has voted for just about every pro-Iraq-war measure, as well as every legislation that boosts, expands, or extends the PATRIOT act. Gee thanks, if I wanted this kind of shit in my "representative's" head, I'd move to Oklahoma or something.
