I'm sorry folks. The NYT story is completely outrageous. No reasonable understanding of former Deputy Attorney General Comey's testimony supports the theory that the President stepped in to quell a disagreement among his staff. The President *created* the problem by attempting to force the desperately ill and drug-addled Ashcroft to sign off on ther NSA wiretapping program after Ashcroft and the DOJ had determined that the program was illegal.
