The wooden phallus phone is definitely my favorite
The duck phallus doesn't fall off and regrow. It just shrinks down to compact-carry mode when it isn't mating time. Similar to humans. I expect they will find that, like humans, it is modulated hormonally.
Take it from me, who has a pet bird on hormones (like birth control) so she will stop laying eggs.
It would be awesome if they did grow back then. When I read that, I thought, "It's only a matter of time before someone pulls a Dr.Connors/Lizard -- a la Spiderman -- and tries to use duck genes to grow a penis." Then? Hideous duck monster-men!
Nature articles can open many interesting subjects for discussion. One of my favorites is The first case of homosexual necrophilia in the
mallard
