Anthony Hopkins is hella old. I saw him last night at Troiani with his 20-person entourage and he could barely walk. So either he was old, or very drunk.
Maybe he was both? Don't be hatin!
I was there last nite as well and I thought he was fantastic. Very talkative, animated, non-Hollywood. And his entourage? Umm, try again. There was a bunch of folks from the film. He drove up here, yes drove, yes drove himself and his wife, from SoCal.
I'm going to the tribute tonite as well, and looking forward to it...should be interesting.
See you there! I'll be in Platinum.
Platinum passes are the coolest! I'm just a poor schlub with a ticket.
I second the recommendations for Doghead, I Don't Want to Sleep Alone, and Crazy Love. The audience last night for Tsai Ming Liang’s entry was disappointingly small (even though SIFF has programmed most of his films). And that's too bad, as it's one of his best. Light on dialogue, but heavy on intrigue, romance, and mordant comedy.
Damn, I'm really sorry to hear that. Tsai is one of my favorite directors. I'll pimp it again on Saturday for sure.
Yes, it was disheartening to see such a small audience at Tsai's beautiful, mysterious, intimate, quietly humorous film on Wed. Easily my favorite thing I've seen in the fest so far. I hear the Saturday show was more well attended tho'. Thanks for 'pimpin' Tsai to the masses! I genuinely feel his films could touch and inspire a larger audience stateside - assuming they were presented in a manner that complimented their subtlety.
