News Shooting in the International District
posted by May 23 at 12:31 PM
onPolice responded to a call about a shot fired on the corner of Rainier Avenue South and South King Street just after 2AM this morning. They found a man in his 30s or 40s who had been fatally shot in the head.
Police have not recovered a weapon at the scene but homicide detectives are looking for an acquaintance of the victim.
I’ll update as info becomes available.

.. this happened about a half a block from my apartment.. i'm surprised i didn't hear any other commotion because this block is fairly quiet at night and somebody reported shots but i didn't hear anything until the police helicopter started doing laps right over our heads. by 2:30 there were firetrucks and aid cars and forty eleven cop cars and all sorts of walkie talkie action and loads of men standing around postulating and shit.. i could hear it fairly well from my bedroon window until the sun was well up..which means i didn't sleep for shit.. i guess they was busy with their investigation and all..but to me it was just a bunch of mens standing around - the the same you see at conststruction site.. and by the way.. the news reports called this area south seattle.. and you called it the insternational district but folks here call it 'little saigon'
Take a nap when you get home.
Was it just me, or did The Seattle Times identify this location as "Rainier Beach" in an early-morning version of this story? North of I-90 is so not Rainier Beach. I get the feeling that most of the folks over there have never even been to Rainier Beach.
South Ender, I saw a KOMO story mis identify the street as Martin Luther King Boulevard...I wouldn't be surprised if the Times made the same mistake.
Thanks, Thel.
Last night I gave a friend who lives right by there a ride home. The shooting happened by that scary, vacant-except-for-blackberry-brambles-and-drug-addicts lot on the northwest corner of Rainier and Dearborn. Even though they fear the ridiculous traffic that a big-ass Target parking lot will bring, a lot of them would prefer that to the horrors currently going on over there.
