Very funny.
I tend to think Hitchens is a bit of a quack himself, but that was friggin' awesome!
The truth is always so refreshing.
I'd say Hitchens can be a bit of a bully and a fraud as well, but he can really bring it. And he's certainly a thousand times less harmful than that fucking toad Falwell.
Hitchens has a column about Falwell at Slate that's pretty scathing

(I hope it's okay to post this link)
"It's a shame that there is no hell for Falwell to go to."
Hitch's appearance opposite Ralph Reed on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes last night was worth catching too. Check Youtube for it and listen closely at the end as Hitch intones, to the strains of the familiar FN muzak: "If Falwell gets an enema he'll be buried in a matchbox." That might be hard to top.
I've been saying sort of the same thing to people over the last couple of days. Only with a lot more swearing. Hitchens is much more civil than I've been able to manage. Or maybe his British accent just makes him sound more classy. :-)
Let's give his bloated carcass to the chubby-chasing necrophiliacs.
Most disparaging remark I will likely make in reference to a recently deceased person today.
I dunno. He's just preaching to the choir. Funny, but hardly required viewing.
still the best.
As a Christian, I think Hitchens is completely correct. Falwell etc are a extreme perversion of the Christian faith and they are the reason I'm embarrassed to call myself Christian.
Al, you may agree with hitch, but I don't think he would care much for your unperverted version of Christianity either. If you meet him at a cocktail party you will be risking your own portion of vehemence and bile.
Only someone like Falwell can make me agree with someone like Hitchens!
eeeeeeep!
That's exactly right.
That was incredible.
Mr. Curtin is exactly right: Agreeing with Mr. Hitchens about Falwell (and the former's recent book about God, or the lack thereof) is an unusual feeling. I've been watching him stump around doggedly supporting the war in Iraq for years now and thought I'd lost all respect for the man and his politics. I was surprised, given his position on Iraq, that he's turned out to be so anti-religion.
But you don't have to be an atheist to think Falwell was an Uber-Douche.
Thanks, Dan. I don't usually agree with Hitchins, but it was probably the most accurately spoken eulogy we'll get for a very 'small man'.
So the way I figure it, the world's natural methane level has dropped -- one of its biggest assholes has just died.
