It's only the Heritage of Pride event, first of all--which usually holds its event in the Village. They want to move up to Chelsea this year, which already has the dance on the piers among other events.
Just to clarify, NYC Pride will proceed as planned; it’s our street festival which has been canceled.
The Mayor's office denied us a permit for a new date and location, because of a strain on the city's resources...however we have found gathered evidence that this is not true! We canceled the street festival because we refuse to be put back in to the proverbial "closet"!
In doing so, we are standing up for our events and our community!
