I thought that Robin Williams worked on his material by doing lots of coke and stealing other comedians' jokes.

I wanna pay $45 to watch him rehearse...

Look, I haven't listened to him do comedy in a long time...so, I don't know. At one time, he was manic and unpredictable and funny. Now? Who knows? Still, it says ALL proceeds go to the West Seattle food bank. Why the cynicism?

I guess I have bad taste, but I thought his HBO special from a few years back was pretty good. Although not as good as his old stuff by any means.

All the cool kids take shots at Robin Williams.

He came to my high school once (he lives in SF) and he was the most un-funny person every. And it is not hard to impress 14 year olds.

Don't let "Patch Adams" or "Mrs. Doubtfire" or "Death to Smoochy" or even "Flubber" put you off the standup.

I won't, Fnarf. Seeing him as a guest (or moreso as one of several guests) on numerous TV shows, I can only assume that somewhere since these movies came out, Robin has managed to complete his doctorate in Incessant, Unintentionally Unfunny Interruptiveness.

I remember hearing several years ago Robin Williams spent an hour on Capitol Hill at the now gone "Le Petite" espresso just shooting the breeze.
The owner had a photo of him and said he was very nice.

Say what you will but not many Holloywood actors do that. Robin's ok in my book.

Growing up in the 70's/80's I was into comedy records a lot, and Robin Williams' records were fucking funny as HELL. Yes, it sucks that he's declined into making completely horrible boring films etc etc and is past his prime....but fucking hell, he was fucking funny as shit back in the day, and every once in awhile he's still funny.

What a goddamn bitch you are, Ari. So someone does coke and makes a healthy living off of it, then quits the coke, and now no matter what he does -- even a fund-raising event pegged at folks who probably can afford the $45 tix, thanks -- gets the DRUGS tag on it. Get a life, you dried-up hag.

@11

Frederick, you have already proven yourself an asshole on another comedy-related thread. At least you're consistent.

Ari never mentioned drugs in her original post at all. She did, however, correctly point out that attending this sham of a comedy show would be an irreversible waste of your time.

Dick.

I, for one, forgive Robin Williams for Mrs Doubtfire and some other stuff because no one has a funnier on-day than he.

I don't think I would spend the $45 on a rehearsal tour now, but if I were awash in spending money, I'd definitely go. I've spent $15 to see a movie in a theatre with kernaly popcorn that turned out to be a dud. I spent 2 hours a day as a kid watching Brady Bunch, Gong Show, and other craptastic shows. I hated them. But I was eternally bored at home. Those hours can never be retrieved. Not sure I would put seeing bad Robin Williams in that same category. And if it's to see Robin on fire, then all the better.

Meagan:

You suck as an apologist, and apparently you're also blind. See the green tag next to the headline on this post? It says DRUGS.

Dumbass.

BTW: How much successful fund-raising have you done, bitch?
