Comment by SDA in SEA

LaManga is running as a Democrat, not an independent. He won't be a spoiler candidate splitting the vote. He is virtually unknown, and will probably never get out of the single digits.

My guess is that he is running primarily as a way to get more press for his anti-war campaign. He says himself that being a potential presidential candidate is getting him access to places and people he couldn't get before. I don't really see this as a bad thing, even if he has no real chance of becoming president. Anything that helps end this stupid war any sooner is a good thing. And it may have the side benefit of pushing some of the more centrist Democrats a little closer to the anti war camp.

Comment by Will of Horse's Ass

Why wouldn't LaMagna just support John Edwards? Edwards, unlike Clinton and Obama, is for a deadline for withdrawl. Clinton believes deauthorizing the war means something, when in fact it is meaningless. Obama believes he can find 16 GOP Senators who will overide the POTUS' veto. This will not happen.

I admit, I'm for Edwards. Why isn't Dal?

SDA @3: "And it may have the side benefit of pushing some of the more centrist Democrats a little closer to the anti war camp."

As far as I'm aware, all of the Democratic candidates, and a few of the Republicans, want to end the war. Why do we need LaManga, the anti-war candidate?
