So glad he's dead. Now, how much longer 'til Pat Robertson keels over?

All that time, effort and bile expostulating about an imaginary world: a Star Trek Convention with real victims. Now his life, his self, his soul, is over and nonexistent. Tragic, really.

Hey Dan,
You should run a few of his best lines, e.g. "abortionists caused 9/11 (paraphrased)"...

Addressing Mr. Falwell and his ilk, Jello Biafra once sang, "God must be dead if you're alive." Now that he has dropped dead, does that mean that God will somehow spring to life? Discuss.

Enigma: c'mon, there are tons of people that I would be happy to learn are dead. This "don't speak ill of the dead" line is horse S.

Falwell spoke ill of millions of living people. It is perfectly fine to be happy about him dying. I only wished he had suffed for a while...

In his defense, he had the ability to be occasionally reasonable -- holding public and honest debates with Larry Flynt, for instance. As someone who lived for four years in Lynchburg, I can say for certain that mostly he was an asshole. But as putrid as he mostly was, he wasn't as consistently repellent as a Fred Phelps or a Pat Robertson, and I'm not particularly happy to see him go, particularly as the damage he did isn't going to go away. At least in my corner of the world, he's going to continue to wield a lot of influence, alive or dead.

Unfortunately, KC there are probably dozens of Falwell wannabees waiting in the wings to pick up the mantel, as it were.

And as for what effect his passing may have on recruitment, well, as Commander Cockroach was fond of saying, "there's thousand more where they came from", so don't get your hopes up.

I'm not celebrating, but I'll be damned if I'll pretend the slightest sorrow for the intolerant bastard, either.

"I've got a little list...they never will be missed..."

Enjoy your nice long dirt nap, Foulwell.

I don't believe in life after death.
But if I'm wrong, and there's heaven, I really hope Jerry is there. And also Jewish people. And Muslims. And Wiccans. And gays. And abortion-clinic workers. And lots of people who died of AIDS. Etc etc etc.
I hope he's there facing the prospect of living for all eternity in heaven right in the same general population with them, and that at the top of it all Jesus is looking down to make sure he plays nice.

i feel like...i fell like...the house fell on the witch? no, too gay. too cliche. i feel like...black mamba when she plucked daryl hanna's other eye out, and she knew that her great nemisis was squashed forever? kind of. kind of both really. although i didn't pluck out jerry's eye or drop a house on him or anything like that. but i would have if i could have. now that he's dead, the gesture would seem hollow. damn.

jerry didnt slaughter 43 million poeple as you lefists proclaim your pedestal of humanity, but then again you leftists are taught by prof. who wants to wipe out to only a billion people on earth. Your objectivity is flawed.

My only regret was he didn't die doing something "sinful" like a coke overdose or a heart attack while rimming some Univ. Student. I only hope right before he died he was haunted by millions of AIDS victims who died in the 1980's because of the intolerance he (and others) espoused.

As a Chinese woman and born-again Christian, here, I am greeting to all brothers/sisters in the Christ !

Let's say good bye to our very dear brother- Jerry Falwell. he is a very diligent good servant of the Lord-, a brave Christian soldier

To stand steadfast and fight back those anti-christ fake Gods but demons behind

To sow Gospel seeds in the lost souls, let them get saved by the Lord's Salvation on the Cross 2000 ago and gain Eternal Live instead Eternal destined death as a result of human-being sins

To hold God's Holy Moral standards to resist this world own decayed, corrupted immoral standards in this world which belongs to Satan - gays, abortions, adultery, fornication etc.

Now, our dearest brother Jerry Falwell is rest in the Lord's Arm and living in the Eternal Kingdom forever. let's put on full Armor of God and stand firmly to follow our dear brother/pastor -Jerry Falwell's steps on our Cross road until we reunite with him someday, until our Lord coming back second time soon, Amen !

I would normally never say anything like this for anyone. But JF is different. If I did believe that mankind could "create" sin... then Jerry would have been the one to do it.

To think back on the hate he preached. A bigot praised by several presidents. Gluttony as his passion. I can only have joy at his passing.

My grandfather smiled when Stalin died and I am smiling now to hear that JF is finally dead.

Long live this great country for out living such an evil man, and long live Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion

I am a student at Liberty University and i am quite tired of people ranting and raving about
Dr. Falwell’s controversial quotes and not rejoicing at the postive impact this man had on the ENTIRE world. Dr. Falwell, like any of us, made mistakes in life. His mistakes are no greater than ours, they just seem to be because of his athority that he gained in society, in which he gives all the credit towards God. Falwell was a noble man of character and love. He started so many organizations for the less fortunate that it would be hard for me to name them all, but including in those is a godparent home and a alcoholic home. He founded Liberty University, where people like me can get a high quallity education and at the same time be around the fellowship of other christians at one of the best and largest growning universities in America. He spent time each day having conversations with students and waving and blowing his horn at us as he drove by. Falwell remained true to his faith and beliefs until his death, which I would say that is very rare for people of this day. Even though he may not remain on this earth, I am absolutely postive that when he entered the Pearly Gates, He heard the voice of Jesus say, “Well done.” His legacy remains on this earth through the impact he had on the Christian and political world. His character and values will remain with those at Liberty University, whereas Fallwell’s spiritual seed will be implanted in each person’s spirt that goes to Liberty University, and that is of global evangelization.

I challenge each of you to think for five minutes before posting something negative about the life of Jerry Falwell. If you are christian or not, liberal or conservative, there is something postive that he has done in this world that you can say that was at the least commendable. May his body rest in peace and His spirit live in the presence of God for eternity. May his work on earth continue to produce fruit through the many organizations and university that he founded. Thank God for the life of Jerry Falwell, a man that never stepped down for his beliefs, his morals, and his identity found in Christ.
