How Was It?

posted by on May 11 at 11:12 AM

Did we go to the Seattle Art Museum’s massive grand re-opening and talk to none other than one Mimi Gates? Yes, yes we did. Did we also discover that gay men are sneaking into the Lusty Lady, and writing the slogans for their ever-impressive and infamous marquee? Yes, yes we did that too.

Please enjoy. And congrats to the new SAM. I’ve never seen so many people so excited about an art museum in my entire life.

I love that first couple; they're great.

You should have come in the middle of the night, too. I was there around three a.m. and the place was still jumping (actually, we arrived just after two and there was a line down the block, with the next timed tickets available being 3:40; so we stuck it out, and it was well worth it).

Hooray for SAM and Seattle!

i arrived at SAM and there were people jumping rope outside as a crowd cheered. the line forced me to walk around the exterior of the building, revealing a surprising lack of quality in the architecture. once inside i was greeted by suspended ford's and what looked like the type of flashy lights in 62% of a college dorm rooms. a band displayed a surprising amount of energy as they labored through a series of cover songs.

i felt like i was at a mall. the seatac mall, to be precise.
