So, umm, not to get all detailsy, but the pic of Sir Anthony and his wife was actually from his Tuesday night screening of Slipstream, not from last night's tribute.

Totally agree that the Egyptian needs an overall...it was a touch embarrassing, altho what was really embarrassing was the absolutely shitty mic system they had. Would it kill ya, SIFF, to pay for some decent mics that don't bark and squawk? Damn.

Thankfully Tony, as he is want to be called, was absolutely fantastic. Funny, loaded with great stories, and willing to go longer than the moderator wanted. Kudos to the moderater, btw. That had to be sweat inducing, feeling like he was the one in charge of reigning in his knightliness. Carl Spence, god love him, was a twee bit nervous in his intro...c'est la vie.

All in all, it was quite a nite.

Hey, um, this is kindof embarrassing, but I happen to have square-toed Aldos - at least I think so, because they are Aldos, and they have square-toes, but I sweat to god I didn't know that MEANT anything, they were just on sale at the outlet mall and seemed to fit. So if you don't mind, what does that actually mean about me according to everyone who sees me on the street? I feel like I might have back in middle school if I got an earring in my right ear and didn't know that meant I was gay. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay, but at the time I didn't want other kids to think it. Now, I wonder what everyone thinks when they see me with my square-toed Aldos - something to do with pathetic celebrity journalists or something? Thanks in advance...

For some reason, the Stranger "spam filter" (what a waste of programming, jesus) deleted my previous post. I'm sure you bitches retained a copy, so you figure out why. It was totally legit, but I don't have the time or energy to reproduce it or to give a shit about why it was offensive.

Just know that the Slog isn't open to all. And its judgment is better than any human's (apparently).

Meanwhile, you let illiterate fucks post on here on the time. There, their, they're. It's and its. Your and you're. Cite, sight, site. You know of whom I speak.

God, I can be so bitchy, but thanks for updating the pic info, Adrian...of course I only know that the pic is from Tuesday because I am exactly that kind of stalker who attended both events...

One cute thing about what Hopkins was wearing on Tuesday: He had the off-white linen suit in the pic...and boat shoes. Definitely not from Aldo...more likely from Bass or Bean. Very cute in a grandpa kind of way. Wednesday he was in a dark suit and acted like he really wanted to be out of the collared shirt...maybe it was a little too tight?

For the record, I got to meet and shake hands with Mr. Hopkins prior to the event. He came right up to me and shook my hand. All I could think was that Anthony Hopkins is shaking my hand. He is a fucking movie star.

steffany: you know? your right. very right indeed. i am almost never star struck--never. but every now and then, when I see a REAL star, a REAL celebrity...well, there is such a definitive qualitative difference. you can see it from fifty yards away. and sir anthony? definately a star. a real one. like i said, jeff goldblum is another of these...you wouldn't necessarily expect it, but that man has cache for days. we need more real stars. don't you agree? i will admit, i was thrilled to see anthony hopkins. thrilled.

It was pretty f-ing thrilling to be right up close to Anthony Hopkins, I will admit. He is definitely a STAR.

I am kinda suprised you'd put Jeff Goldblum in that same category...

Also, did it appear that he got a haircut between his Tuesday and Wednesday appearance?

Also also, did anyone happen to catch Dale Chihuly at the Wednesday tribute? That is one big dude, and he didn't look so hot, nor did he move very fast. He was sweet to an older woman who shook his hand. He chatted with her amiably for a minute and didn't even look like he was trying to wrench his hand back...

@17, i am indeed also quite surprised by jeff goldblum's big star vibe...i'd never have expected it, but it sure is there when you catch him in person. maybe it's because he's 400 feet tall, or because he moves through life in impeccable suits and $100000 sunglasses (even at night), guided by a pretty helper on each arm...he doesn't have to pay attention to where he is, or where he is going...his assistants just guide him in the proper direction, and he shakes hands and greats fans as he goes. a perfect way to move through life. and when you see him, you lose your breath a little. it's fascinating. and while i'm on the subject, another celeb whom you would NEVER suspect of having big celebrity vibe, but does, does, DOES...tori fucking spelling. it's true. she just has that SOMETHING...you walk into a crowd of three dozen people, and she's the only one in the room. she shines. it's very very weird. please forget i just mentioned it.

@17 re the Fuck-tab-u-lous Tori Spelling. You know she's got a B&B now? What I'd pay to have cook me up some eggs in the morning...

And I can *so* picture Jeff Goldblum being led around by pretty little handlers...
