Christopher Hitchens unleashes on Hannity & Colmes.

Sean Hannity, needless to say, is an unbelievable asshole.

Ralph Reed: I so very much want to tap that.

Falwell: a good man because he wasn't Stalin. I vote that be engraved on his tombstone.

Hitchens is my new hero!!! As for Falwells family, any member that still looked up to him after what he said and did deserves scorn and ridicule.

Hitchens is a total dick, but I completely agree with everything he's said about Falwell. He may not have been Stalin or Pol Pot, but only because of the stable government in this country. Were there upheaval, he would definitely been the kind of man to commit genocidal horrors. Here, though, you don't get power from killing people, you get power from telling idiots who to hate and fear.

Hitchens' best zinger came right at the end "if you gave Falwell an enema, he could be buried in a matchbox!!"

The man's a drunk, and was a total jackass about the war, but damn, can fire of a good one!

Ok, I'm starting to warm to up to Hitchens. When he's on the right side of an issue, he's a delight.

My favorite part is when Hannity says, "You think you're the smartest person in the room."

Uh, that's not even a competition.

It's not that Hitch is an asshole about the war, it's that unlike the Bushies, he didn't back it for morally bankrupt reasons. He actually makes good points in its favor.

I wonder if Sean Hannity has refrained from saying bad things about Saddam Hussein in deference to his family.

Why don't more Fox guests mix it up with these fools like Hitch does?

LOL. Hitchens looks like he's drunk off his ass. I'm surprised he wasn't slurring the whole time. I have to admire him for being as lucid as he was while looking like a sloppy drunk. Usually I think he's a contemptible war monger, but on the subject of Falwell, he's dead on.

Ralph Reed talking about civility drips of hypocrisy. But then Reed always did have a silver tongue. He could sell ice water to Eskimos.

Jack asses like Hannity is one of the main reasons I don't watch TV any more. The entire Fox News network is a disgrace to journalism.

Hitchens is a very witty and articulate commentator. His book, God is Not Great, is great. He also is a complete supporter of the invasion of Iraq.

Why is it ok to be thoughtless and mean to all LGBT people and their families consistently, but its a terrible thing to be accused of doing the same to Falwell's family?

He may have "misspoke once or twice?"

Would have been nice if Hitchens said something about that...or someone.

Because Falwell is dead. People automatically become beloved when they are dead.

God . . . I can't believe I just saw Sean Hannity, of all people, crying about someone else being mean and thoughtless. The hypocrisy is mindboggling.

You know, Hitch should have pointed out that if H&C were really so concerned about respecting The Reverend's passing, they wouldn't have invited him on when they knew what he was going to say. But then, Murdoch didn't make his billions by trafficking in civility.

Not sure Hitchens can be called a 'drunk'. He may be, but I know several people who never touch alcohol but take on a very similar facial look when debating or discussing serious topics. It is almost as if their minds are so engrossed and engaged that there is no concern for how they are perceived visually.

Contrast to Hannity who can't form a thought independent of how it will come across to his viewers. Such an a$$.

Best thing posted on here in months. I am so sick of this pious b.s. when someone like Falwell, Nixon or Reagan dies. If you're a douchebag on Monday, you are not a saint on Wednesday because you died in between. I hope they have Hitchens on when Kissinger dies, he'll go nuts when they start the wake. I'm not a fan of his, but he nailed this.

"Tell it to Abramhoff" is right. Reed is such a God fearing man that he's helping Chinese companies force abortions on employees on North Mariana Island. And how do you score points with God giving the money that you stole to the poor to students at your university?

Smart, unbearably self-righteous Brit asshole vs. dumb, unbearably self-righteous New York asshole. Hitch wins.

Cameron @ 17 - Hitchens is most certainly a drunk. He's quite well known for it here in DC and often gets trashed at events.

And I know this won't fly well on Slog, but I'm going to quote Death Cab for Cutie; "Just 'cuz he's gone doesn't change the fact he was a bastard in life, thus a bastard in death."

Ralph Reed & Sean Hannity are the best justification for retroactive abortion that I've ever seen.

Hitch is great because he never raises his voice, just makes Hannity look like the asshole he is when he gets all bothered and flustered and starts talking about Stalin.

Shub-Negrorath is right: they knew exactly what Hitchens would say, so they get to make money by having Sean look like he's saving the day for the religous righ
