Man, according to Cheney, the insurgency has been in their last throes for YEARS. Those are some long throes.

Well hell, what say we throw up the old "mission accomplished" sign, do a few rails and clear some brush back at the ranch!

Boomer, as much as we all dislike the fact that Dan was for the war in late 2002 and early 2003, that's much different than the delusion Cheney was expressing in the summer of 2005, when the writing had long been on the wall that the place was a disaster.

cheney just neglected to mention that he meant "throws" (not throes) and the iraqis are dan marino in his prime... or something. don't be so hard on him.

in reality however, this war has worked out quite nicely for cheney and his halliburton buddies, has it not? almost like they wanted the war to drag on so they could keep soldiers watching over that precious, precious oil for decades to come in the name of "keeping the peace" during the civil war that will continue for the foreseeable future. impeachment is too good for these criminals. if they were the leaders of some other country (3rd world at least) they would have been dragged before the Hague already.

We all dislike the fact, Gabriel--but there's no disputing it is a fact. And "DAMF" is a very Catholic school, passive-aggressive way of addressing it. And that just ain't gonna fly.

It's not passive aggressive. Anything at all Dan says about Iraq is subject to complete condemnation by a small percentage of people who just will not allow those who supported the war at any time to criticize it in any way, ever, because it undermines their authority as people who knew better all along, or some bullshit. "DAMF" merely acknowledges those blind idiots and dismisses them, because they ought to be dismissed. Nobody is disallowed from changing their fucking mind in this country, especially when they were clearly wrong to begin with.

It's not about the right to change one's "fucking" mind, Chris--or clutching at moral authority; Dan wasn't so much advocating the war as raging, insanely, against those who opposed it.

I'm sure Dan is grateful for the rabid fans who are willing to ignore his stupidity. I'm also sure their support does nothing to diminish the embarrassment and guilt. He wrote the words, he made the choice, and DAMF seems an attempt to diminish and control the whole sorry affair. This may be how Dan wants to live with this, but Dan doesn't get to choose how the rest of us view it.

Sorry you're so persecuted.
