Guess I'll just stick to the weekly advice column and forego the Slog altogether. It's a shame, really. Thought Dan wanted readers of all persuasions.

As long as my parental abilities and rights are under attack by the right wing crazies, I'll sing soprano in the choir.

The rotting smell is supposed to linger. That's the point. If people completely unfit to be parents are given more rights than those who don't have rights just because of each's sex, then I cheer the continuation of ECDaMAaF.

I hope these all get publishef in a book one day, just a few copies made, and get sent to certain people in power who might have a chance of understanding the point. It's a long shot, granted.

They're reporting on things that are terribly painful to look at, and by doing so, they're raising awareness about the magnitude of child abuse in our society. They're providing valuable internet real estate which might eventually stoke a public outcry sufficient to cause real change in child protective services.

To the folks that are miffed that these kind of issues are reported on Slog, how about complaining to your local elected officials that all this rampant child abuse is messing up your day? Fixing the systems that allow these kind of atrocities to occur is the only way you'll get free of reports of horrific child abuse.

And I think that as long as there are people preaching that gay marriage endangers children and saying impossible things like only hetero marriages are good for kids, evidence will need to be collected that these kinds of claims are wrong and dangerous for kids. So call your local elected officials and tell them you want Dan Savage to stop making you feel bad about your hetero privileges, and tell them to support gay marriage now. I doubt Dan will stop speaking truth to power just because some feathers get ruffled along the way.

Seriously, folks, if you want Dan to shut up, do what you can to make this a more just and free society. It's the only thing I can come up with to offer as a feasible solution to some of the concerns expressed in the comments.

Keep reporting Every Child Deserves a Mother and a Father stories. The country needs to face this.

I would say if you give up, then things will slowly revert back to the hypocrisies that these social conservatives preach.

And yes, I regularly use the term "breeders" to refer to heterosexuals. I could care less if it offends them or not.

Here's an idea: How about reporting on good things that same sex couples do with or for their children? Perhaps the act of jamming bad het parenting down people's throats is what twisted my knickers in a knot. I'd sure love to read about positive parenting experiences from same sex couples - who, in my opinion, deserve to be parents as much as het couples.

By the way, if it weren't for breeders, no one would be here - and same sex parents wouldn't have children to adopt.
