TASC has been there for years now, pretty much right at the mouth of Point Defiance Park. TASC, as you may imagine, is an old-timey and very pleasant place to enjoy a sandwich and a soda. Highly recommended!

Tacoma's antique sandwiches are impressive, but Seattle's got a WHOLE FACTORY devoted to producing old spaghetti.

There's a radio show on the local college station KVTI that's broadcast from there. I think it's called Victory Music Open Mike.

There's also a new "Deli" that opened in Seatac Airport called the "Old Seattle Deli".

It has an "antiquey" front facade...

and at the back of the ASC there is a bureau pushed against the wall, and if you pull the desk out you will find a drawer, and in that drawer are years of napkins that customers have drawn and written on. grab handfuls, read, add your own. it is fascinating stuff. they sell honey sticks too.

Their sandwiches are incredibly overpriced, come with a teeny bit of meat underneath what seems like an entire field of sprouts, in between two slices of store-bought bread.

The Antique is great. Their milkshakes, gingerbread, and black bean enchiladas are lip-smackin', man. Just try to ignore the probable fact that all of the groundwater around there has been contaminated by the old Aasarco smelter.I've drunk it for years, and I--well, I do have that nagging cough and a third arm starting to grow, but...

I did eat at the Antique Sandwich Company some years ago and I remember having a similar experience as Stan did: overpriced and underwhelming.

My wife and I just passed by it the it he other day and I asked her why anyone would choose to stop at a place named Ancient Sandwich Company and we both laughed, especially when I started listing various menu items they might serve.

I've never had any desire to stop in at Ancient Grounds on 1st Avenue for similar reasons.
