I've been reading Sullivan's "The Conservative Soul," and I have to say the fellow's an even better (book) author than he is a blogger. Or maybe I'm just noticing the obvious -- that books are a more "powerful" medium than blogs.

Sullivan's a perfect example of where the blogger and the author really complement each other. The book Sullivan adds some heft to the blog Sullivan, and the blog Sullivan shines some spotlight on the book Sullivan.

It's a unique talent, those who can do both well. The time element alone would stop most people. I'm envious of those who seemingly do it all so well.

This is bullshit. As an author, I can say that you need a blog to promote your book online. As a blogger, I can say that you need a book to validate your online writing. I respect this guy's need to create more time in his life, but blaming the blog is a cop-out, like people who complain that they can't have a cell phone because they'd talk to much.

I'd rather read a soldier's blog.

Oh.

Wait.

I can't ... the Pentagon is cracking down on those too, making us even more like Red Russia every day in every way.

Your papers, comrade citizen?

.. for this I served? ..
