Marvel's ASM #96 came first.

True, Josh, but the Spider-Man comic didn't deal with a hero experiencing drug addiction, and these two issues of GL/GA did, and continues to have effects in current continuity. Outside continuity though, ASM 96-98 were more important since they were shipped with out CCA approval.

God, I'm a fucking geek.

@4,

The fact that ASM 96-98 didnt' have the CCA is telling. The Green Lantern books did—which shows off DC's lag-time. That is: Marvel was dealing with the issue when it was still hot and controversial. DC got around to it when it was safe for discussion.

Also, the fact that it was Harry and not Peter that was having drug problems is exactly why ASM was so great. A world of real characters.

Oliver Queen (aka Green Arrow) was a flaming liberal, always making with the lefty political statements. Until Speedy got hooked. Then he turns into a regular John Ashcroft with zero tolerance for drugs. He actually beat Speedy up, then kicked him out of the house. Nice guy to have for a mentor.

Did you hear about the professor in Boston who lost his job over comments about the shooting at V Tech? You know, you gotta love freedom of speech on college campuses.

Wolf goes down first. If Gonzo goes down the Bush adminstration is going to be exposed to more problems then they want. They are going to keep him as the official punching bag. But expect the formal resignation of Tony Snow in the next few weeks.
