Homo When You Wish Upon a Star

Your dreams come true

The Walt Disney Co. has changed its policy to allow same-sex couples to participate in a popular Fairy Tale Wedding program it runs mainly at its two U.S. resorts and cruise line, a Disney spokesman said Thursday.

Disney previously had allowed gay couples to organize their own weddings or commitment ceremonies at rented meeting rooms at the resorts, but had barred them from purchasing its Fairy Tale Wedding package and holding the event at locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World that are set aside specifically for weddings.

Hey, American Taliban? How’s that Disney boycott going anyway?

The thought of a big, tacky, Disney wedding (gay or straight) fills me with disgust and loathing. One small step forward for gay rights, one big leap backwards for gay good taste.

2

I totally agree.

3

It's kind of refreshing to see a major company do this. Especially such a family oriented company.

4

Distasteful as a Disney wedding may be, I salute them for being family-oriented and having the balls to say," We have no right to judge the lifestyles of our guests. We're in the hospitality business." And for offering same-sex benefits to their employees, which is a lot more you can say for a lot of other companies.

5

So no one is gonna touch the "Fairy Tale/Tail" joke that's just laying out there in the open? You people let me down.

6

i want ariel to preside at my big lesbo wedding. she's STACKED.

7

You get to ride to the ceremony in the Cinderella coach and the costumed characters show up in formal attire. That is hysterical! It's not in bad taste if you know it is...Go Disney!

8

I vomited a little bit in my mouth when I read this. I can just see the pastel formal attire. Zgh.

But,in the words of my hero, Miss Jean Brodie, that's just the sort of thing for those who like that sort of thing.

9

So when is the feature-length cartoon coming that ends in the big gay wedding? Maybe they can do an update on the Frog Prince. He turns into a she when kissed, or something like that.

10

Gay Days as Disney are such a fun fuck fest; nice to see they're tipping their hats to the bland assimilationalist gays who so desperately want to be just like straight people.

Also, Mark @8: vomiting in your mouth (a little) has been relegated to the dust heap of dumb comment thread cliches. Throw up through your nose, or go the fuck home.

11

The base price is eight grand. With the LGBT wedding market projected at around a billion a year, do you think they want their piece of the pie or what? I smell a profit-driven business decision. And if Disney can hold their nose and do it, anybody can. This year, Disney World, next year, Bob Jones University!

12

Wait a minute! I've been boycotting Disney for "The Path to 9/11." Now the homophobes are showing up on the picket line. Eeeek!

13

Hmmm. No one else going to point out the probability that Disney is only finally offering this to the gays because NO ONE ELSE was willing to fork out the cash for this sort of thing?

Who else would want a big Disney fairy tale wedding but a couple of steriods-using, Abercrombie & Fitch-wearing, Jeep-driving, Schnauzer-owning, Palm Springs-vacationing queens?
