Because that is what rabbits do. Which is why we have hawks and coyotes.

you got to teach them rabbits to defend theyselves before you turn em out into the world.

What I find most intriguing about this is that the dept. of fish & wildlife employs a "pygmy rabbit coordinator"... who should obviously be fired.
