Warning: this movie in fact is dull, overlong, ponderous and hard to follow if you don't know Irish history. The Stranger staff must see themselves and their Monorail war in the Irish war.

The Field is great. I can't wait to see this nonetheless. Loach has made one bad film, Bread and Roses. As far as propagandistic left wing directors, I can think of few better.
